After about 10 minutes since Jackson left, he returned to the library with Mr. Harris behind him. Jackson looked pale and sweaty. Riley thought that he was developing some awful flu. Riley wasn't listening to Stiles and Erica, instead she was just chatting with Olivia. Sometimes she would open Isaac's contact and just stare at it, fighting herself to text him. She really wanted to, but something was pulling her back. She felt somehow conflicted with him; she remembered the time when he had attacked her, and though that it was a little bit even now because she pushed him back. But deep down, she wanted revenge. She wanted Isaac to feel the same pain that he had caused her. Maybe it wasn't her who was thinking that, maybe it was her ancestor. Her ancestor was anti-supernatural, so maybe it knows that a werewolf had attacked Riley and wanted revenge. Riley really needed to learn how to control it.
Mr. Harris zipped up his bag and stood up, which was a sign that everyone else could leave too. But Riley wanted to hang around and see if there were any books on Beacon Hills' history. She does have a few books already, but she needed as many as she could find. She stayed seated as she watched everyone get up. Mr. Harris smiled and chuckled as he watched everyone get ready to leave.
"No, I'm sorry. Yes, I am leaving but none of you are." Mr. Harris said, smiling at his words. "You may go, when you're done with the re-shelving." He put his hand on the cart with a few dozen books on it. "Enjoy the rest of your evening."
Everyone sat back down and watched as he left; all of them were seething with anger. Riley wasn't though; this gave her time to look through all of the ancient history books in the section of the library while re-shelving the books.
"I've got the history books." She volunteered, walking over to the carts full of books and picking out all of the history books that she found, stacking them on the table nearest to the history aisle. The rest of the students were grouped together on the other side of the library, where Riley spent her time alone in the corner on the opposite side, reading the titles of the books and putting the ones she didn't back into the shelves. Her phone buzzed in pocket where she took it out and saw that Olivia was calling her.
"Are you at the library?" Olivia asked, giving Riley no time to greet her.
"Yeah, why?" She asked, picking up a book and placing it on an empty space on the shelf. She couldn't care less if they were in alphabetical order; Mr. Harris didn't specifically say that either.
"I'm coming over, we need to talk about something very important." She stated, but Riley didn't think that it was a very good idea. She was in a room full of supernatural creatures, and one of them was like a time bomb.
"Olivia, I don't think that's-- Hello?" Riley had realized that she had hung up on her. "Great." She muttered, putting her phone back in her pocket.
Five minutes later, the front doors burst open loudly, and in came Olivia with her dramatic entrance. She looked around as everyone turned their heads at her, which was what she loved. She really liked attention. She looked at Scott, almost scowling at him before spotting Jackson, who was the only person not looking. He was staring intently at a book in his hands, to which Olivia just rolled her eyes. She spotted Riley peeking over the shelf and walked straight towards her with a stern look on her face. Riley knew that this wasn't going to be good.
"So, I went to talk to Boyd because his reason for rejecting me was not good enough. I mean, I was surprised." Olivia talked to Riley as she listened, and Olivia sometimes helped her stacking by handing her the books that were on the table. "And you know what he said? He mentioned you. Apparently you talked to him about us. What did you say to him?"
Riley avoided eye contact as she continued to shelf the books.
"I don't know what you're on about." She replied, shrugging her shoulders as she continued to avoid her gaze. Olivia snatched the book that was in Riley's hands (a book that Riley actually needed) and slammed it on the desk, making a large noise that attracted everyone's attention.
"Bullshit you don't. Why did you talk to him? Why did you tell him not to go near me? To like me? Do you have a crush on him or something? He is mine honey." Olivia lectured, and Riley sighed and finally looked at her.
"I don't have a crush on him. Look, Olivia, Boyd isn't... He isn't good for you. Trust me; you'll find someone else." Riley consoled, but Olivia just glared at her.
"How do you know that he isn't 'good' for me? I for one think he is very good for me! You knew I liked him, so why did you have to sabotage it?" Olivia asked solemnly, and Riley turned to her front on and put her hands on her shoulders.
"Liv, I didn't sabotage it. I hate to tell you this, but Boyd likes someone else and I doubt he would change his mind about it. Please, I know stuff that you don't, and it's just best that you don't get involved with people like him and the people he hangs out with." Riley said, but Olivia was still upset.
"People like him? What is that supposed to mean? You hang out with Isaac all the time, and he hangs out with him. You hang out with his 'people', so why can't I?" She retorted, and Riley groaned loudly and took her hands off of her shoulders.
"You don't get it. All I'm trying to do is protect you from--"
"Protect me? I think I can handle a break up hun, that is if it actually happens." Olivia interrupted, and Riley pursed her lips. She was going to say danger, but what Olivia suggested worked too. Riley returned to her books, breathing heavily through her nose.
"Look, you do what you want to. Just know that Boyd likes someone else." Riley said, tired of arguing with her. She was a very stubborn person.
"Whatever, I can change his mind. Do you know who it is?" She inquired, and Riley shrugged. She thought back to that night in the car when they were talking about it, and saw how Boyd was looking after Erica. A sudden wave of realization washed over her as her mouth formed an o shape. Olivia watched her and jumped a little. "What? Who is it?"
Riley looked at her best friend, who was looking desperate. It was obvious that she was dying to know. Riley thought that she at least should tell her this one thing since she's been keeping everything else from her.
"I think it's Erica. I don't know." Riley whispered, glancing at her from across the room. Olivia tensed her jaw as she looked over at her, then returned her gaze to Riley.
"That little bitch. She stole my boyfriend." She grumbled, and Riley laughed at her.
"Yeah, of course she did." She replied, and she knew that things were okay again between them. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Scott walking over to where Matt and Jackson were. She widened her eyes as she saw Matt on the ground, a dozen books sprawled around him as Jackson was nowhere to be found.
