By the time Riley got to field (she had been running for the past 20 minutes, so she was a bit slow in getting to the back of the school), there was an ambulance on the field and the crowd was being held back by the police who had arrived fairly quickly. Riley was right in front of the school, how did the police get there before she did? Well to her defence she did have a little five minute break after she heard the scream, just sitting on the curb as she looked at her bleeding and bruised knuckles. She held them above her heart so they wouldn't bleed as much, but it didn't really work. All she got was a bloody shirt and throbbing hands. Then when she got up, she got a bit dizzy and had to lean against a tree, which put a damper on her trip to the field.
Another thing that delayed her trip to the field is that as she was leaning on the tree trying to get her vision back, she spotted a man dragging Stiles to his black car and shoving him in, then driving away. Riley felt bad that she didn't go after him, but what the hell was she going to? She was way too tired to run after them, and her vision was so poor that there was no way she was going to drive after them. Plus, she's had enough of physical combat for at least another year.
She spotted the sheriff and the team mates walking back to the school and into the locker room, where Riley tiredly followed. It was obvious that she was drained; her eyes were semi-open, they had bags underneath them and her overall attitude was lacking.
Once she entered the room, her eyebrows furred as she saw at least half the guys without shirts getting changed. As much as she loved staring at them, she had to tell the sheriff what she saw. She spotted him talking to Isaac and Scott and walked up to them. Isaac saw her and widened his eyes, excusing himself from the group as he lead her out of the room.
"Jackson's dead. He clawed himself and we don't know why." He deadpanned, and Riley looked at him in shock. Wait, Jackson is... Dead? Just like that? How did he die? Why did he do that to himself? Riley's head automatically filled up with questions but she was too bothered to ask them all.
"I need to talk to the sheriff." She muttered, and she sleepily walked over to him. The more she stood and walked around, the more exhausted she got. She would have fallen asleep standing up if it wasn't for her motivation to talk to the sheriff about Stiles.
Scott watched as Riley walked over and put her hand on the sheriff's shoulder.
"Sheriff, I know what happened to Stiles." She mumbled, and the sheriff's attention fully averted to her.
"What happened? Where is he?" He asked desperately, and Riley's eyes were closing. She just needed to rest them, that was all. Damn, running around everywhere plus her guardian coming out to protect her really had a negative effect on her. She took her arm off of his shoulder and sat down on the bench with the assistance of Isaac. She paused for a moment and swayed a bit, the darkness of sleep overcoming her.
"Riley!" Isaac shouted, clicking in her face. She opened her eyes and straightened her head, as it felt sideways onto Isaac's shoulder.
"What?" She mumbled, rubbing her eyes.
"What happened to my son?" The sheriff asked, crouching in front of her. Riley looked at him and recalled the moments when she saw Stiles being shoved into the car.
"He was taken by someone. They put him in their car and drove off. I was too tired to go after him. I didn't see a number plate, I'm sorry. But the car was black and big with tinted windows." She explained, and the Sheriff stood up straight.
"Do you know what direction they went in?" He asked urgently, and Riley pointed to the showers.
"Down that way somewhere, I don't know where they were going specifically." She replied, as it became a large effort to keep her eyes open. The sheriff bolted off after he smiled at Riley and left the locker room. Soon enough, when everyone saw the police officer leave, they all took it as a cue to go as well. Isaac carefully got up and sat Riley upright as Scott and him moved closer to Stiles' locker.
As soon as everyone left, Scott broke the door of Stiles' locker and pulled out a shirt and shoe. Riley was way too tired to comprehend why they were doing it, so instead she opted to lay down on the bench and have a little nap.
