At school, Riley had to make up the excuse that she was trying to pull out a really tough nail from the wall and her hand slipped and hit the wall behind her, causing her knuckles to bleed. It was a bad excuse, she knew that, but she couldn't think of something else.

"Why were you pulling the nail out?" Isaac asked her, gently holding her bandaged hand. Riley hadn't thought of that question.

"It was dangerous." She replied, pursing her lips as she shrugged. Isaac had strategically placed his fingers on her pulse to tell if she was lying or not, but he still couldn't tell. He had no choice but to believe her.

"Damn." He replied, and let go of her hand. Riley put her hands in her hoodie pocket and nodded, rocking on her feet.

"So, my parents are back in town, and invited you for dinner tonight. They also invited Olivia's family; they wanted to catch up since they're good friends. Do you want to come?" Riley asked, and Isaac frowned.

"There's actually this party I have to go to tonight... Because of Jackson." Isaac explained, and Riley groaned.

"Isaac, please? Do you really have to go?" She pleaded, and Isaac sighed.

"I'm sorry Riley, but yeah. This is literally life and death." He said, and Riley rolled her eyes.

"I'm sure it is, but I'm your best friend! Please." She nagged, dragging the last word out as she grabbed onto his arm and waved it around. "Please, please, please, please, please! I can't handle double the dad jokes and double the cook book recipes conversations and one child being annoying and Olivia being on her phone the whole time! I need you there, please!"

As you can tell, Riley was really desperate.

"I can't, Riley! I'm sorry, any other day I would go! But just not tonight. Isn't Olivia going as well?" Isaac asked, and Riley remembered listening to Olivia talking about this huge party that was really exclusive.

"Well, great. Now I'm the only one who isn't going!" Riley replied, huffing loudly as she held onto her bag straps. Isaac chuckled and looked at the end of the hall where he pointed to a boy.

"You see that guy, Dylan? He's got tickets. I can get you one if you want to." He offered, and Riley raised her eyebrows in disbelief.

"I thought tickets were hard to come by. At least that's what Olivia said. How much are they?" Riley asked, digging into her pocket to bring out her money.

"Free of charge." Isaac smirked, and left Riley to go get a ticket for her. Well, isn't he a nice? Riley soon started to regret thinking that as she watched him approach Dylan. The boy looked pretty scared, as he just took out a ticket and held it out for him, begging for him not to hurt him, again. Isaac politely took it, thanked him, and walked back up to Riley, handing her the ticket. Riley watched in shock as the boy ran off in the opposite direction.

"What did you just do?" She asked, taking the ticket as she read it.

"I got a ticket for you; don't even worry about it." He replied, smiling at her. Riley rolled her eyes but smiled back, as they both started walking down the hall and talking about whatever came to mind.

"Do you want to go together? Maybe Olivia wants to go with me, I don't know. Maybe she's found a new boy to toy with." Riley asked, thinking about Olivia.

"I'm actually going with Erica, but sure. You can tag along." He said, and Riley scrunched her nose up.

"I'm not being the third wheel." She muttered, and they walked outside and roamed around. Isaac frowned at her.

"Third wheel? What's that supposed to mean?" He asked, and Riley laughed dryly.

"It means that I don't want to be the third wheel of you two. You guys are going to make some cool ass entrance in a doorway that only allows room for two people to go through it at once and I'm just going to be reluctantly following you awkwardly in the background. I'd rather go by myself. Let's just meet up there, okay?" Riley ranted, imagining her life as the third wheel. She was always the third wheel with Olivia and the boy she was dating that week, which really sucked. Riley wasn't going to be the third wheel; she was going to be the one wheel. She was a unicycle.

"Suit yourself. And that does not happen." Isaac replied, where Riley scoffed.
