Riley and Isaac both woke up at noon to an empty house and a sunny day. Riley had woken up first with Isaac's arms around her as he lay behind her. He was so warm and cuddly. She shuffled around and turned so that she was facing him, where he started to open his eyes as well. He met her eyes, which had dark circles underneath them. Riley smiled at Isaac, which made him smile back. His hand automatically pressed against her back and rubbed it, and Riley closed her eyes again. Isaac studied her face, noticing the faint freckles behind her worn out makeup and the little stray hairs under her eyebrows. Her lips looked smooth and soft, and Isaac really wanted to run his thumb over them, but thought that it wasn't right. Not in that moment, anyway.
"Maybe we should get up and seize the day?" Isaac asked, and Riley opened her eyes. She smiled and nodded, looking up at the ceiling. Isaac noticed two claw marks on her cheek, from where Erica had grabbed her. Isaac lightly grazed his fingers over them, which made Riley turn to him.
"What is it?" She asked, and felt the dried blood around the punctures. She groaned and rolled her eyes. "Really? Another set? I have way too many of these marks."
She showed Isaac the marks on her forearm, then smiled at his discomfort. She wasn't mad at him anymore because of it. She understood why it happened. They got up and went downstairs, stretching as they traveled down the steps.
"Do you want to go out for breakfast?" Riley asked, as she watched Isaac search the cupboards. He turned to her with concern.
"Are you sure you want to go outside after what happened?" He asked, and Riley frowned.
"Well, I can't be locked up in here forever. Plus, I've got you." She replied, and Isaac couldn't help but smile at her comment. "I'll go to the police station today and tell the sheriff. But you can't come, obviously. That'll look suspicious. How about I bring Scott or someone?"
Isaac stopped smiling and frowned, thinking about what she said. He knew that him and Scott's pack were enemies, but since he's been having trouble with his own pack, maybe it didn't apply that much anymore. But he still didn't trust Scott that much.
"Alright, I'll drop you off at his house. He'd better go with you. I'll make him." Isaac replied, his eyebrows furrowing at the end of his sentence. Riley smiled and patted him on the shoulder, as they both had some cereal and got ready to go. Riley called Scott while she was reapplying her makeup and told her about her plan. Isaac was outside the door listening, and barged in when he heard Scott sounding uneasy.
"Scott, you'd better go with her, or else." He warned, but then widened his eyes as he saw Riley in just a towel. She gasped and shoved him out of the room, yelling at him in the process.
"Jesus, Isaac! Sorry, Scott. Please just come with me, Isaac's paranoid that Derek will come for me." Riley chatted, as she carefully shaped her eyebrows.
"Why would Derek come for you?" He asked, concern filling his voice. "Is it about that night at the ice rink?"
"I'll explain when Isaac and I get to your house. See you later." She cut him off and hung up, finishing her makeup and brushing her teeth before exiting her bathroom. Isaac was standing there, his eyes trained on the door. He looked at her in surprise, then quickly turned around.
"I'm not looking." He stated, and Riley rolled her eyes.
"You better not be." She muttered, and she quickly got dressed, peeping over her shoulder a couple times at Isaac to make sure he wasn't actually looking. She dried off her hair and they both got in her car to go to Scott's house.
Isaac sang along to the radio while Riley laughed at him, and they soon arrived in Scott's driveway where he was waiting. Isaac stopped singing and glared at Scott as he got out of the car and made a beeline towards him.
"Jesus, wait!" Riley exclaimed, jumping out of the car and running to Isaac. He got dangerously close to Scott, who had his claws out and was staring at Isaac in a menacing way.
"You better keep her safe Scott, or I will kill you." Isaac growled, but Scott wasn't intimidated.
"Keep her safe from who, Isaac? Your Alpha?" Scott asked, and Isaac growled at him. Riley got in between and pushed them back.
"Okay kids, no time for playing. Isaac, I'll call you when I'm done, okay? Okay?" Riley asked, looking at him in anticipation. Isaac refused to look away from Scott, but nodded.
"Yeah, okay." He replied, and backed off. He gave Riley a warm smiled before heading off to her car and taking his bike out of the back before riding off. "Watching you Scott!" He called out as he rode away. Scott watched him leave before turning to Riley.
"Okay, now will you tell me what's going on?"
