For the past two weeks, all Riley did was catch up with Isaac and and sometimes talk to Stiles about his ever-growing interest in her ability. It was spring break, which gave everyone more time to do whatever they wanted to do. During the break, Stiles and Scott had told Sheriff Stilinski that the killer was Matt. They all went to the police station to check the evidence but Matt and Jackson showed up and killed all of the police officers, which eventually turned sour when the Argents involved themselves into the fight. Everyone had learned the day after that a body was found in a nearby river, where he was drowned. It was Matt's body. The reason why Matt wanted to kill people was because they had killed him. When he was nine, Coach Lahey was having a party with the 2006 swim team champions. They were all drinking and Matt was thrown into the pool where he drowned. Coach Lahey eventually fished him out and saved him, branding it Matt's fault for not knowing how to swim.

Riley didn't feel bad about it; Matt killed innocent people and made Jackson do the same. Derek told her that Matt was turning into the Kanima himself because he broke the rules of the Kanima and henceforth cursed himself. He said that it was the universe balancing things out. The one who was left unpunished, becomes punished.

Scott and Stiles were required to attend counselling sessions at the school when it returned the week following. It must have been scarring to experience what they did.

Derek had also shared the news with Isaac and Riley that Lydia had used him to resurrect his dead uncle, whom he took his Alpha powers from. Riley knew that Lydia wouldn't have done it on her own accord; she must have been possessed, or something like that.

It turns out that Scott's mother was at the police station on the night Matt was killed. She found out about Scott, and since then she hasn't talked to him at all about it. Riley could tell that Scott was hurting; she knew the feeling of being ignored by people she cared about.

Allison was very upset after the events that unfolded. She stopped talking to Scott and everyone else all together because of it. Riley noticed that she only ever talked to Lydia, but that wasn't very often. She was hardly at school during the first week back, but she couldn't blame her; her mother killed herself. Riley would be upset as well.

Speaking of her mother, she never found out that Riley had opened the box and stole the key from her. Riley did not understand why she was keeping it a secret from her. Did she know about it? How would she know that Riley would be the one possessing the shield out of everyone in her family? She would have thought that her father would have known since it was his side of the family that came from hunters. Her mother's family were a bunch of snobs who lived upstate in Washington DC. How would she know anything about her husband's ancestry and her husband not know anything about it?

But maybe he does know, but does not care if Riley finds out who it is. Maybe her mother is suppressing what her father thinks because... To be honest, Riley didn't have an explanation. She had to talk to them about it.

Her father sat in the library, looking up DIY recipes and writing down the methods. Riley knocked on the door, earning a grunt of a welcome from inside, and entered the room. She smiled at her father who had a slight frown on his face as he squinted at the computer screen.

"Hey sweetie." He greeted, and Riley stood in front of the desk. When she did not reply, her dad looked up at her stern face. "What's wrong?"

She did not sit down in the chair next to her; she did not want to stay long.

"I need to ask you something." She stated, and he nodded, resting his pen on the desk.

"I'm all ears." He joked, leaning back on the office chair. It squeaked under his weight.
