Riley had finally decided to go back to school, and found out that she missed out on a Chemistry test. She was begging Mr. Harris for a makeup test, because it wasn't her fault that she missed it - well, not mostly her fault.
"Please Mr. Harris, I couldn't help that I was sick all week." Riley said, as she watched Mr. Harris eat his spaghetti bolognese. He adjusted his glasses as he looked up at her with an unamused expression.
"Very well then. You can do the test with McCall at lunch time today. Don't be late." He said, and Riley smiled widely.
"Thank you so much, I'll be here." She replied, and left the classroom. Why did Scott miss the test as well?
She met up with Olivia in class and they both sat together, talking about last week and why she wasn't there.
"Did you hear that Jackson is missing? I couldn't believe it... But you know, I don't care, obviously. That was a flame that has since gone out. No more Jackson for me." Olivia gossiped, and Riley really missed her. Maybe now was the time to ask her about Boyd.
"Yeah, I heard about it. And good for you, for ditching Jackson. I heard that he's a bit... Cold blooded." Riley replied, smirking at her clever insult. Why not joke about it? There was never going to be an appropriate time to joke about it, so why not now with her best friend that knows nothing? "So, I've been meaning to ask but, what's going on with you and Boyd?"
Olivia smiled faintly and hid her blush. "Nothing." She mumbled, and Riley rolled her eyes as she wrote what was on the board into her notebook.
"Seriously Olivia? I tell you everything, so why won't you tell me about Boyd? I know there's something going on between you two." Riley lectured, and it was Olivia's turn to roll her eyes.
"Oh whatever, I doubt you tell me everything. Besides, there's not much to tell anyway." Olivia snapped, sounding a bit sad at the end.
"How come? There's got to be something to tell." She asked, and Olivia shrugged.
"Well, Boyd and I haven't been talking lately... And it's because I told him that I liked him but he likes someone else." She explained, her voice becoming quiet as Riley watched her draw in her book.
"Well, that sucks. I'm sorry to hear to that. Don't worry about it, you'll find someone better, someone who will be out of this world, head over heels in love with you." Riley encouraged, offering an encouraging smile. "And someone who's actually normal." She added quietly, as she went on with her work.
"You're right, I will. There's no use in moping around about some boy who doesn't even like me. I'll find someone better." Olivia exclaimed, putting a smile on her face. But it still stung. Boyd was the first person Olivia actually liked, and he didn't like her back. What was wrong with her? She was funny, pretty, a little bit smart (but not that much) and she had a great taste in fashion. What was his problem?
Riley thought that it was for the best, because she didn't want Boyd hurting her. He was a new werewolf, and he didn't know how to control himself. Riley didn't want to involve Olivia in anything that was supernatural, for her sake. She knew how much it ruined her life, so she wouldn't want the same thing happening to Olivia.
After morning tea break, Riley went to the library for her free period while Olivia stayed back in class to keep up with her work since all she did in class was draw and talk to Riley. It was partly Riley's fault, but she was talking just as much as Olivia was and she still got her work done. She walked into the library and saw Allison walk into an aisle. Riley hadn't talked to her in ages about what happened at Scott's house, and she felt like she should talk to her and see if she was holding up alright. But at the same time, she couldn't care less. She followed her, and she was looking at some books on the shelves. She passed the bookshelf next to Allison's and spotted Scott and Stiles talking to each other, but Scott was looking at the shelf. She frowned at them, but they didn't notice her, so she went into the aisle where Allison was. Riley tried to ignore the deep feeling of confusing anger that she felt towards her.
