Riley was at the hospital for her check up. She sat on the bed in the emergency room as it was a slow day and all of the other rooms were taken. When she got there, she was not so surprised to see Erica there. She was lying on the bed, drifting in and out of sleep.
Riley didn't know what to say to her, since she never really talked to her before. Erica didn't have many friends. Riley was determined to say something to her though, she had to.
"Hey Erica." She said, and Erica opened her eyes and tilted her head to where Riley was sitting. She sat up a little, resting on her elbow.
"Oh, hey, Riley. Why are you in here?" She asked, frowning slightly. Riley was glad that she was trying to make conversation.
"I was in a car accident about a week ago, just here to check up." She replied and smiled. "Nothing hurts, I'm all good."
Erica nodded, and lay back down. Riley didn't want the conversation to end, but she felt annoying.
"I'm sorry for what happened today in class, when you were up the wall. I didn't laugh at you, I told Olivia off. She's afraid of heights so I expected her to understand the scariness of being up there." Riley said, and Erica looked at the ceiling.
"It's okay." She sighed out, and closed her eyes again. Riley sat back against the wall, and stopped talking. It was obvious that she didn't want to talk to Riley, which was understandable. Riley just felt like she needed to apologize, even though she didn't do anything to her directly.
Melissa came back from her office and told Riley that she was okay and that she was free to go. Riley said bye to Erica, who ignored her, and then left the room. As she was walking to the exit, Derek Hale walked inside. They both stared at each other as they walked past, but neither stopped or said anything. Riley was too afraid of him to say anything, but why was he there? She walked through the doors, her eyes still on the man, and she watched him stop in front of the room that held Erica.

The next day at school was just another normal day, except Olivia was sitting with Boyd, which was very strange since they did not sit with each other, ever. Riley was sure that they had never talked before. She walked and sat down across from Olivia, who was looking at a maths textbook. Riley couldn't stop thinking about Erica in the hospital room. She seemed so upset and tired of everything. Why was Derek there? She wondered that after she was out of his field of vision, he walked inside Erica's room. She wondered what would have happened if Melissa didn't come at that time and Riley was stuck waiting there, and Derek walked in. He was clearly there for something, but she hoped that it wasn't Erica.
"Wait, so, if you substitute the x with 5, the answer will be 74? I don't understand!" She wailed, and Boyd just calmly sat there with a pen in his hand.
"Hey guys, what's happening?" Riley asked slowly, watching Olivia who was getting frown lines. She glanced up and pouted at Riley.
"I'm paying Boyd to teach me Maths, because I really don't understand it." She replied. Riley looked at Boyd, who was just sitting there.
"I'm good at Maths, I can teach you -- for free, may I add." She replied, which in return, received a dirty look from Boyd. She backed off, raising her hands. "Nevermind, I'm terrible at Maths!"
Riley started to eat while watching Olivia become more and more frustrated. It was quite funny, actually.
Stiles suddenly sat next to Riley. She looked at him bewildered, but he just glanced at her, as if the incident that occurred the week before didn't happen and he didn't witness her best friend almost maul her to death. He acted as if he didn't indirectly safe her life, which she was grateful for, even if she didn't know it.
"Boyd, you got the keys?" He asked, and all the attention was turned to him. Boyd reached into his pocket and took out some keys, holding it out for him. Stiles grabbed them, but Boyd wouldn't let go. They tugged for a while until Stiles gave up.
"This isn't a favor, it's a transaction." He replied, and Riley and Olivia looked at each other. Stiles nodded and let go.
"Right, yeah, absolutely." He said, and dug into his pocket. He pulled out a twenty dollar bill and placed it on the table, smiling at Boyd. Riley continued to eat, not really caring what this was about. She hadn't talked to Stiles in a long time, but then again, she didn't really want to. Boyd looked at him disappointingly.
"I said fifty." He replied shortly, and Stiles frowned.
"Really? I remember 20. I have a really good, um, verbal memory you know and... I remember 20. I mean I remember distinctively the 'twa' sound. 'twa-enty'." He said, but Boyd was not having it.
"I said fifty, with the 'fa' sound. Hear the difference? If you can't, I can demonstrate some more sounds starting with the 'fa' sound." Boyd threatened, and Stiles backed down. Olivia wasn't even paying attention, she just stared at her math book with a frown.
"No, no. I think I'm recalling it now." Stiles laughed. "Maybe I got it confused with... Forty."
"Oh my god. Stiles just give him the fifty dollars. I need to do my math homework!" Olivia groaned, sending Stiles a death glare. Stiles looked back at Olivia, who wasn't playing around. He looked at Boyd who didn't react, as he continued to look at the textbook in front of him.
"Come on man, have you seen the piece of crap jeep I drive?" Stiles pleaded. Boyd looked up at him and smirked a little.
"Have you seen the piece of crap bus I take?"
Stiles sat there for a moment, before finally giving in and putting a 10 dollar bill on the pile. Boyd smiled and gave him the keys. Stiles thanked him and left after saying goodbye to Olivia and Riley. She said it back, but only to be polite.
Boyd took the money, put it in his pocket, and returned to tutoring Olivia.
Everyone's head turned to the doors of the cafeteria. Riley looked over, and her jaw almost dropped. In came in Erica, only she was not herself. She was... Hot. Her hair was curled and smooth, her makeup looked amazing and she had these tall heels on with a mini leather skirt and leather jacket. She walked in with such confidence, it made everyone else in the room seem inferior. She glanced at Riley, smiled at her, and took an apple from one of the tables and bit into it. She looked around at everyone, then left with a smile.
"Jesus, did you just see Erica?" Riley asked, her widened eyes training on Boyd and Olivia, who were both looking at the textbook.
"Who?" Olivia said distractedly, as she wrote down an equation and attempted to solve it.
