Riley sat on the couch, recounting the moments that had just happened inside her head. How was she so willing for Derek to bite her? How did she know that nothing would happen to her? She didn't feel like herself, and she thought that it had something to do with the news about her being a shield. How was she supposed to know that there was going to be a soft glow around her when she was looked at with werewolf vision? Of course, she wasn't aware of what Derek really saw.
She looked up at the ceiling when she heard the hurried footsteps of heels walking down the hall and down the stairs. She heard a large scream of some sort, and it reminded her of something. Lydia came walking past her and out the door.
"Would somebody please tell me what the hell is going on?" Riley heard Lydia shout. Riley got up and walked out as well, as she saw everyone's faces in shock to see the two girls who were suspected of being the Kanima stand right in front of their eyes. Scott looked at the roof in shock.
"It's Jackson." He whispered, and Riley pursed her lips. Jackson? Seriously? She knew Jackson was weird, but she never would've thought that he actually the Kanima. Yeah he was uptight and mean but she never knew that he was capable of murder. But maybe he couldn't help it, maybe it was the full moon. Maybe it did the same thing that it did to Isaac on his first full moon. He couldn't control himself, so maybe the Kanima can't either.
Boyd quickly ran up to Erica and Isaac and picked them up with ease, and watched as Derek ran off towards the direction in which the Kanima went.
"Allison, take Lydia home okay? Stay safe." Scott urged, and Allison nodded, taking Lydia by the arm to her car. Riley watched Allison go and almost scowled at her, but she didn't know why. Scott turned to Riley, but she shook her head.
"I'm not going home. You guys go after Derek." She said, and Scott pondered for moment. "You're going to lose him, go!"
Stiles ran to his Jeep and hopped in, calling for Scott. Scott looked at Riley before nodding once and ran after Stiles. He climbed inside, and the engine roared to life before they set off down the road. Riley watched them go before turning to Boyd, who was staring at Riley menacingly.
"Come on, I'll take you where you need to go." She offered, and took out her car keys from her pocket.
"Why?" He asked, as he started to follow her to her car. Riley smiled as she opened the back door for him.
"We're friends, Boyd. Remember? Even though we're supposed to be on bad terms, I just can't be. We're friends first, always. Plus, I wanted to make sure that you guys were alright, even though Erica almost killed me." Riley pointed out, looking into Erica's eyes. Erica just looked back, not being able to move because of the poison. Boyd carefully lay Erica across the backseat and sat Isaac in the front, buckling him up. He closed the door and hurried around to the other side and climbed into the back, settling Erica's head in his lap.
"I don't want her to fall. You gotta look after your pack." Boyd said as Riley climbed into the driver's seat. She looked at Isaac, who looked like he was coming to. She buckled her seatbelt and put the keys into the ignition and turned them, her car rumbling as the engine came to life.
"Where do you want to go?" Riley asked, looking at Boyd through the rear view mirror.
"Derek's place. Do you know where that is?" Boyd asked, and Riley nodded. She backed out of Scott's driveway and started to drive towards Derek's apartment. It was quiet in the car because no one was talking. Isaac was mumbling a little as he moved his head around, but other than that, it was quiet. Riley didn't know why she was helping them, since they were going to kill Lydia and hurt her friends, but she was torn. She understood why they were doing it, but she still sympathized with her other friends. Isaac was her best friend, and by the looks of it, Boyd was Olivia's close friend as well. She just didn't know what to do.
"So, what's going on with you and Olivia?" She asked casually, although she really wanted to know. She glanced at him through the mirror. He was looking down at Erica.
"What do you mean?" He asked, looking up. Riley darted her eyes back to the road. She shrugged her shoulders, watching the passing street lights above her.
"I don't know. You two seem close lately, and whenever I ask her about it... She just smiles and shrugs. You do know that she likes you, right? I hope you knew that, I really don't want to be the one who told you." Riley said, suddenly regretting that she spilled the secret. Well, wasn't really a secret to be honest.
"Oh, right, yeah, I guess I would've figured it out. She's nice, and pretty hot, but I don't know if I like her back. I thought we were just studying together." He explained, and she scoffed at his answer.
"Just studying? Seriously? You know, for someone who has heightened senses, you are really blind. Can't you sense emotions in people?" She asked, looking at him through the mirror again. It was his turn to shrug, as he looked back at her.
"That's kind of hard to do. But actually, now that you mention it, Olivia's emotions are pretty strong." He said, and looked back down at Erica. She watched him as they went over a bump, a piece of hair falling onto Erica's face. Riley shifted her eyes to Erica's hands that were limp by her side, and saw her fingers twitch. She looked back to her face, and saw Boyd's fingers gently pushing the hair back behind her ear. Riley looked back at the road, before glancing at Isaac whose eyes were opening.
"Yeah, they are. They're also fragile, so don't hurt her. If you hurt her... I will kill you myself." Riley announced, and Boyd smiled.
"Don't worry, you don't have to attempt to kill me because I won't hurt her. At least, I'll try not to." He said, and Riley sighed.
"I think it would be best not to involve her into this world. I really don't want her getting hurt." Riley mumbled, and Isaac's hand traveled over to her side of the car and put his hand over hers on the steering the wheel. Riley looked over and smiled at him, seeing a loose smile sprawled across his tired looking face. She was glad that he was okay.
