I woke up before Josh did in the morning. I laid in bed facing him until he woke up.

“Morning,” he said with a yawn.

“I was evicted,” I whispered. It was killing me that I was keeping it a secret. So I decided to tell one of my friends. And of them all, Josh was the one I told all my secrets to first. And he was like my big brother.

“You were what?” He said still sleepy.

“Evicted. I was kicked out of the castle.”

“What? Why?” Josh asked suddenly more alert. He sat up and shook the hair from his eyes so he could see me better.

“You can't tell the others,” I said.

“Okay, I promise I wont. Why were you kicked out?” He said hurriedly.

“Apparently I threatened the royal marriage,” I quoted from the eviction form.

“Apparently? So you didn’t, did you?” Josh asked. He almost sounded impressed. I guess he was coming up with things I could have done to get between the marriage.

“No, I didn’t. I don’t know why I was accused of it.”

“So why don’t you go and explains things to Kingy, I’m sure he will take you back,” Josh suggested.

“If I go back to the castle or talk to Mikey, I’ll be arrested.”

“Then ask your dad to set up a meeting with Kingy. Then you just happen to go and he talks to you, no big deal.”

I shook my head. “I could still be arrested for that.”

“Damn that sucks,” Josh said actually sounding sad. Oh wait, I guess he would be. If I wasn’t at the castle, he couldn’t get in, which means he wouldn’t be able to drool over Mikey.

“So is that why you’re here?”

I nodded. “Dad is going to try to talk to Mikey, he’s going to try and get him to drop the charge. If he can't, I think I’m going back to France.”

“What? No! You can't go back. We’re here for the whole summer.”

“Joshie, you know my dad. He is super protective. If I’m not living with him, he’s going to want me back home with my mom.”

“Did Mikey come up to you and tell you to get the hell out?” Josh asked. “Sorry but I want details, I swear I wont tell anyone.”

“No. Dad showed me a form. It was all official and everything.”

“Oh so it was signed by Kingy then?” Josh asked hesitantly.

“No, his uncle.”

“That coward,” Josh said suddenly. “He should have at least signed it himself instead of hiding from you.”

“I thought he was my friend Joshie.”

“I know you did. And I thought he liked you more than that.”

“Now we know I wasn’t even his friend.”

“Come on. We’re going shopping today,” Liam said opening the door. “It will cheer you up a little Is,” he added.

I thought for a second. “Yeah I guess it might.”

I waited until the next morning before confronting Uncle Harold. If I had done it the night before I probably would have ripped him to shreds I was so mad.
