"We'll dinner should be ready in about...10 minutes so if we would all make our way to the dinning room that would be swell," my father glanced down at his wrist before gesturing to the dinning room, a smile on his face. The table was set for everyone, the long mahogany table covered with cutlery and different plates.
"The table setting is beautiful," I smiled at Kades mom.
"I picked it out," a bashful smile rose on my face and Kade grabbed my hand giving it a squeeze.
"You have very good taste," she sent me a wink, which sent a blush up my neck, my ears burning. I mumbled a thank you before I sat down next to Kade near the head of the table.
"So, you have a very large family," Kades father spoke eyeing all my brothers with interest.
"Yes, my late wife wanted a girl so we just kept trying until Delia showed up." Kades father nodded an emotion crossed his features and I found myself flabbergasted at what I had seen. It was distaste. I tried to ignore it but, throughout the conversation, I would noticed him upturn his nose at certain things my father had said. I could see my father saw it too, but he just kept smiling for my sake.
"The food, is served," butlers waded into the room setting plates down in front of us. I smiled, it's my favorite, shell fish.
"I asked them to make it for you Del, I know it's your favorite," I smiled at my dad appreciation bubbling in my chest.
"Thank you dad, I love it."
"So how is school Cordelia?" My dad asked me as he took a bite of the well cooked fish.
"It's going quite well actually. My favorite class is my sign language class," Kades father perked up at my words.
"Oh, Kade is taking sign language in school as well. We wanted him to be able to communicate in every sense not just with words," I nodded a smile appearing on my face.
"So how is it running a pack day to day?" Kades father sat up straighter and I noticed he filled with pride at the thought of his pack. He continued to tell us about the paperwork, the schedules for patrol, and even about the festivals they held.
"Speaking of, we have the fall festival coming up, you should come Cordelia. You would be more than welcome as my sons partner—your family is welcome as well." I finished chewing and nodded excitedly.
"I would love to come sir," he looked thrilled at the news and grabbed his wife's hand.
"Oh honey look at the time, we need to be heading back. I'm sorry dear. The food was lovely and next time you should have dinner at our house, we would love to have you," I agreed and pushed back from the table following Kades parents to the door.
"Thank you for having us dear. Lovely to meet you," Kades mother pulled me into a hug then walked out the door.
"I do like you Cordelia but I will always have my sons best interest I hope you know that," I was stunned. What did that mean? I didn't get much time to think about it before he followed his wife out the door. Footsteps sounded behind me and arms wrapped around my stomach. Kade.
"Don't worry about my father, he's just trying to scare you. As far as I'm concerned you're already perfect." He kissed the top of my head and bade me goodbye, following his parents out the door.
