Beth's POV
I'm late, I'm late, I'm late. For a very important date!
Okay Beth, now's not the time to be weird. Thanks to my amazing sense of direction *note the sarcasm* I am now 25 minutes late and running like a maniac towards the arena. I literally have to dig through my brain just to remember where the backstage door was and when I finally reach I see the familiar intimidating figure waiting for me at the door.
"Paul, I'm so sorry I'm late!" I say short of breath.
"Don't worry about it now, just hurry up," he says while grabbing my wrist and pulling me inside. "You missed sound check."
"Ugh! Will I get in trouble for that?" I'm getting really worried. What if they don't let me sing and all this courage I have built up was for nothing?
"No, Harry took care of it." What?
"What do you mean?" I ask while we continue speed-walking down the corridors.
"Karen, the production manager, was really angry that we wouldn't be able to hear you sing before the show. They were worried that you weren't good and then Harry got really angry and said that they just need to give you a chance to see that you were," he says quickly in one breath.
He really thought I was good enough? All my life I've been told the exact opposite and to have someone say that... It means so much. It warms my heart to know that he stood up for me. He is honestly such a sweet guy, despite the fact that all I've done is push him away. He's been nothing but nice to me, but I can't help it. I push him away because he makes me happy and I'm afraid that when he leaves he will take that happiness with him and I will be left with a bigger hole in my heart.
We finally reach the dressing room and all eyes are on me. I've never been so uncomfortable in my life.
"Finally you're here!" A tall, thin brunette screeches. "You've missed sound check but don't worry about that now," she narrows her eyes at Harry. "So just quickly go into hair and makeup and if you have time do some warm ups."
I nod before a gorgeous woman with white hair with a purple tinge walks towards me, "Hiya, I'm Lou Teasedale. I'll be doing your makeup and hair but we don't have much time so come on!" There's too many unfamiliar faces crowding me and it's extremely overwhelming.
She grabs my wrist, which I rapidly jerk off. Before she could drag me out of the room, I turn back to face the eyes I couldn't get my mind off this past 12 days. His stare instantly locks with mine and a sweet smile forms on his face. "Harry could you come with me?"
He is surprised at first, but his smile grows wider. I'm not going to lie; I was pretty freaking nervous. I could feel my heart beating loudly from the thought of singing in front of so many people. But when I look into Harry's eyes it calms me and I need that right now.
We walk to the dressing room 5SOS are usually in and a lady wearing a very put-together outfit stares at me from head to toe while Harry takes a seat on the suede-brown couch.
"Hi I'm Caroline Watson, the stylist." She shakes my hand and I reciprocate weakly. Yeah; I'm not very strong.
"I'm Beth," I smile nervously.
"Let's get you something to wear," she states before walking towards a rack of clothing and I cringe when we takes out a pink frilly dress and shows it to me.
"No way," I say sternly. That's one thing I am sure of; I don't do pink or frills. "Can't I just wear this?" I gesture to my black loose tank top, boyfriend jeans and converses.
She raises her eyebrow at me, "I would be fine with that but," she points to my knees, "you've got dirt all over your pants."
I look at my pants and realise the soil from the cemetery tarnished my jeans. Ugh, I totally forgot about that. I look back at the dress she was showing off and nearly gag.
