Running Into Hamilton

Audition- part 10

AN sorry for the lack of updates. school starts on Wednesday and I'm getting ready, plus im kinda under the weather and some stuff happened today and I just wasn't in a state that I felt like writing. I'm probably going to update once a day from now on, but you never know! Thanks and so so so sorry guys. And btw this is in October I kinda skipped through September nothing really happened
*Maddie pov*

I spent the night at Anthony and Jazzy's place, cause i was crazy nervous about the audition tomorrow and they didn't want me alone. They let me rehearse in front of them and we hung out, trying to get me to relax. My audition songs were once upon a dream, which was required for girls, and burn as my optional choice, and suddenly Seymour as the duet i had to do. They made me choose a duet to sing since i wanted to be aurora.

Anthony sang suddenly Seymour with me, which was a little weird with jazzy in the room, but that's theater for you. I went to bed early so I would be well rested for the audition. I woke up and choose some black shorts and a plain pink tee, trying to somewhat get in the mood of aurora. I went to school, my mind a swamp of omygoshyournotgettingtherole. GAH auditions are today! You're going to do fine youre Hamilton's kid you live in a theater. I walked to my locker and saw my best friend.

"Sara! I'm freaking out about auditions! Did you decide if you were trying for flora or maleficent?" I said. "No, but Mrs. Leo said i can just try for both." She said, leaning against the locker next to mine. "But, I don't want you to hate me!" I said, laughing with sara. We parted ways and went off to homeroom. I walked to homeroom and saw Riley already at his desk.

I ran over and turned off my music. "Hey Ri! I'm so nervous, how about you? You know you're probably going to get the role!" I said while walking over. I hugged him from behind, and he looked up. He's really cute, I kinda hope we both get lead roles, that means we would have to kiss.

*Riley pov*

I woke up and tried to look nice today. I wore a polo and khakis. I hopped on tje bus and put my audition songs on. I chose hurricane from Hamilton, and for my duet i chose suddenly Seymour. Mrs. Leo said we would be paired with someone who chose the same song, but im wondering if anyone else chose this.

I get to homeroom fast, so i can get there before Maddie. She comes in and greets me, asks me if im nervous, and assures assured me that ill get it. "Of course im nervous m. It's an audition." I say. I've called her m for a while now. It's just easy and short. "I hope i get it, I hope you get aurora too! I mean you're an awesome singer and actress!" I knew this cause we rehearsed together at resource all the time.

The bell rang and I was off to class. At resource, me and Maddie met up and walked to the auxiliary gym together. That was our holding area, and there were doors to the stage. We sat nervously, listening to our respective songs. Our directors walked in and everyone flocked to them. "Ok, for duets," she started. I drowned out everyone else's names, only listening for mine or hers. "Riley Akers and Madeline Pendleton are doing Suddenly Seymour." We were the last names, so everyone dispersed and we just stared at each other in awe.

I walked on stage and sang my heart out. I walked into the wing and heard Maddie walk to the stage. I saw her through the gap in the curtain. She looked so scared as she walked, but,as the words slipped out of her mouth she was so natural.

*Maddie pov*

I walked on the stage, knowing Riley was watching me. I was shaking, I was so nervous. As soon as i sang i relaxed and the words just came out. I was finishing burn when i realized that i just auditioned. "I hope that you... burn." I sang, my vocal director sitting in awe. I went to the wing and pulled Riley out and he began singing.

It felt like more than just singing. It felt so different than when I sang it with Anthony. He looked like he ment the words, and i did. At the end, we just stood for a second, then walked off stage.

*Riley pov*

She came back and pulled me to the stage. The music started and I just sang the words from my heart. I really meant them. She looled so happy, so innocent, so blissful. We walked back to the aux gym and together.

*directors pov*

Maddie and Riley stood on stage and the music started. They were both so natural on stage. The music just flowed through them, they didn't even look like they had to put effort into being on stage. This will be a hard decision.
