Running Into Hamilton

I Don't Know- part 12

*Maddie pov*

I got to school the next day and found sara immediately. "Ok so do you think you'll get maleficant or flora. Or neither." I asked, noticing that she was visibly nervous. "I just hope I get a lead role, I don't care who it is." She said, fiddling her thumbs. "Same. Hey, don't be nervous, you're going to get a lead role. We're talking about you here." I comment and watch her relax.

I walk to homeroom and Riley and I freak out together about roles. I really hope that I get aurora, because I know  that he'll get Phillip. I walk off to my classes and lunch rolls around. Our director promised the cast list would be up before our lunch. It wasn't. Everyone was freaking out,  and it was up during lunch. I look at the list, trying to find my name.

Flora: sara
Aurora: Maddie
Understudy: sara
Phillip: Riley
Understudy: Daniel

We all got the roles we wanted! This means that he has to kiss me.... and I want that, but i don't know anymore. I really like Riley, but I also really like Josh. I just have to wait it out and see who I like more. I didn't see him in the crowd of theater kid, so I decide to text him.

Me: hey there prince Phillip 😄
Riley: wait really?! I'm not at school
Me: you really thought you wouldn't get it? And whyyy
Riley: Dr appointment. Save me
Me: wish I could, can we save each other and go home
Riley: really
Riley: are you my princess?
Me yup😄
Me: gtg class. Byee
Riley: byee m

*Riley pov*

After homeroom i went off to first period. I got called to the office and apparently my mom rescheduled my doctor's appointment and they and an opening today. I left, not able to tell Maddie I wasn't going to be there to see the cast list. I felt really bad, but i didn't want to text her because she'll probably get in trouble. I'll just wait and maybe she'll text me.

I hate the doctor, cause a 15 minute appointment turns into a 3 hour wait. She texted me and said that I got phillip. I basically freaked out in the little waiting room. I, as an eighth grader got the lead role. And another eight grader got the other lead. How did that even happen. Sure, there were ninth grader that got speaking roles, but we're the leads.

I got back in time for periods 4, 5, and 6. At resource Maddie and i just freaked out about getting our roles and went over some lines and stuff because she got our scripts for us early, goodness i love her. She's adorable.

We made our way to the auditorium for our first read through. We sat next to each other, and read and sang through the entire book. At the point where Im going to have to kiss her on stage, I give her a little peck on the forehead, since our director "wants us to do what we can from your seats, so we can learn faster." Everyone is a little shocked by it, but she seems happy from it.

*Maddie pov*

We go through the read through of the script and our director wants us to kinda act from our seats. As we approach the part where Riley saves me, he kisses me on the forehead. It catches me off guard, but I'm not complaining. We finish up and the two of us walk out to the endless line of cars outside together.
