Running Into Hamilton

Lockdown -part 53

(Didn't say this in the last chapter but 2 days later)

We all eat and they both take me to school, since they were going to another meeting for the wedding.

*Maddie pov*

I get to my friends and we hang out around my locker, then go to our homerooms. We meet back up in chorus, sitting at our desks. Thanksgiving break is tomorrow, so we just have to rehearse a little, then hang out. As we're halfway through the first song, an announcement comes over the PA system. "Lockdown, lockdown. Do not leave your classrooms, teacher you may continue to teach." Our principal says. A few girls, including me, begin to panic. Our chorus teacher closes the blinds and turns off the lights. "We shouldn't be really loud, so you guys can just like, whisper and read and stuff." She says, and i stand up, my knees weak.

Riley walks over to me, and our group sits on the corner of the risers. We chat and try to calm down, which doesn't work after what comes next. "Full lockdown. Teachers, turn off lights, lock doors, and shelter students. There is a criminal on the premises, near the lunchroom. If you are on the opposite side of the building, exit." The same voice says, then our chorus teacher waves us into the small room with no windows. We're all silent, I'm leaning on Riley as a tear slips from my eye.

We hear the faint voice of the principal again. "The criminal is now in the auditorium. If are on the opposite side of the school, please exit." He says, and we all jump up. There is an exit right next to the chorus room, and we continue walking. One of my friends lives directly behind the school, so we walk across her yard to get away. Luckily enough, today i needed my phone in class, so it's in my pocket. I feel safer, just knowing I can call someone if I must. We continue walking and our teacher brings us to a police station. We explain to him what happened, than kids start calling their parents. I call jazz and Anthony, then let Riley, Sara, Cara and Julia call their parents.

We end up getting picked up by Anthony and Jasmine, who bring me, Riley and Julia home. I flop on the couch. Antony sits down next to me and wraps his arm around me. "It was really scary, cause we were on partial lockdown at first, but then I guess the person got inside somehow, so we were on full lockdown. And they got in right by the chorus room." I say, looking at Anthony. "You're ok now, though. You're safe here. I love you." He says, hugging me tightly.

I eat lunch with Jazz and Anthony, we go and get chick-fil-a and eat it at home. We make pasta and meatballs for dinner, and I read for about an hour. I lay down at midnight, happy that i could fall asleep late and sleep in. As soon as my head hit the pillow, I was out.
