Running Into Hamilton

Double date-part 87

I start playing with chords and songs on my ukulele for a while, hanging with Riley and having fun.

*Riley pov*

I know Maddie's going to be stressed about the audition tomorrow, so I want to do something to get her mind off of it. I decide to text one of her friends, Josh, and see if he wants to do something to help me.

R: hey, I want to do something to help Maddie chill tomorrow. Maybe a double date??
J: ya, that would be cool, meet me in 30 at rays pizza to figure it out?
R: yea, see you there

I quickly tell Maddie that I need to get home, then start walking towards the pizza place a little while away. About 20 minutes later, I walk in and see Josh sitting at a table on the side. "Hey." I say, waving and sitting down. "Hey, so maybe we could have it at the theatre." He says, immediately figuring this out. "Yea, no one's gonna be there, cause it would be Sunday. It would be really nice." I said, then a waiter came up and gave us a basket of fries. We each grab some, then sit quietly, trying to think about what to do.

"Oh! We should like, sing to them. Like thinking out loud are something." I say, sitting up once I think. "Yes, that's a great idea! I mean we have an entire sound system, might as well use it!" Josh says. "How should we tell Maddie and Jenna?" He says, and i shrug. "Maybe just tell them that we'll hang out at the theatre?" I say, and Josh nods. We continue to plan out the entire night, taking about an hour. We both tell our girlfriends to come to the theatre, then part ways.

*maddie pov*

I get up at 8 and pull on clothes, then go to church with ant and Jazz. I already told ant I was going to the audition at 1, so I put on a cute grey shirt that says live in the moment in cursive and black leggings, along with a loose black sweater. Riley and i go to the school and wait with the 35 other people trying out. Simce there were so little people, they took the ones who did select choir, since about 10 boys and girls who auditioned were. I get auditioned for naomi and the principal, and riley tried for Justin and one of the friends. I think i did pretty well, and once we're done i put my character heels in my bag and riley walks me home. "Love you, see you at 6." He says, kissing my hairline. "Love you ri, see ya." I say and walk inside.

After waiting a while, I walk down to the theatre, and Josh's girlfriend, Jenna, is walking down at the same time. I open the door and we walk in. The center aisle is lined with roses, and jenna and I both look up to see the boys standing on stage, in jeans and blazers, smiling. I hear faint music, and the boys both start singing.

"When your legs don't work like they used to before, and I can't sweep you off of your feet." They both sing, and jenna and I make our ways down the aisle. We hop on stage as the boys continue singing, which sounds beautiful. Riley wraps his arms around me, and I him, and we start to sway. I rest my head on his chest, and the song ends too quickly. I look up, and he quickly crashes his lips into mine. We stand there for a minute, then he breaks away. "We have a little lunch, too." He says, while Josh shows us a little picnic.

Riley runs into the wings and grabs a woven basket, putting it in the center of the picnic blanket. He pulls out a few water bottles, some chicken, and pasta. We each get some and put it in our own bowls, eating and talking for a while, me leaning on riley, Jenna on josh. "I'll be right back." I say, then run up to my old room. I pull my guitar out of the closet and walk downstairs, tuning it. I start playing some songs, and we all hang out and play it. The only one who doesn't play among us is Jenna, but we all start to teach her. It's really fun, and we end up talking for a really long time.

At the end of the night, Josh leaves with jenna and riley walks me home. As we get outside the apartment building, he takes me in his arms. "Did you have fun?" He asks, looking down at me. "Of course, that was so sweet. I love you, ri." I say, standing on my toes to be somewhere close to his height. "I love you too." He says, then pulls me in. He kisses me for what seems like forever, while also feeling like milliseconds. He puts his arm around me and walks me up to the apartment.
