Really Love You- part 20

I texted Mr. Ramos after school, before rehearsal started. I told him what happened and he reluctantly told me I could give her a kiss. I was ecstatic when i saw that on my phone, and I took the opportunity. She looked happy. That's all I want.

*Maddie pov*

I woke up and pulled on a super loose burgundy dress and my doc martins. I walked out to Groffs car and hopped in. He was more awake than anybody was when they picked me up, but it was nice cause we could have fully awake conversations. "So, Rileys been nice, right? He's not being mean, or hurting you right? You know, im the chill one, so you could tell me." He says, chuckling. I break out laughing before I respond. "Ya, He's awesome, actually. After what happened last Friday, he came over and we watched movies and hung out." I answer.

He drops me off at school and my whole 'meet up with the group'  scenario happens as usual, meeting them at my locker. We walk towards class, and pass the office on the way. The principal comes out and speaks. "Oh Maddie, Riley, can you two come here a minute?" She asks, Julia and cara weren't with us cause they went to their class. We turned around and walked to the entrance of the office.

"So, we talked to Jake, and we gave him a 2 week suspension, and he has to do schoolwork at home. Also he gets 2 afternoon detentions, and class suspension for a month after he gets back." She says. "Oh, ok... thank you!" I say, and we go to homeroom. We sit and Riley talks first, like normal. "Hey, that's good, right? He'll learn his lesson. Is there anything I can do?" He asks, just concerned for me. "No, I'm glad he has to be punished, but... still. What if he does it again... or to someone else? I wouldn't be able to live with myself if he kept hurting other people." I say. Riley takes my hand. "He won't. And, if he does, I will sock him in the face. No joke." He says, and I chuckle. "Thanks." I say. "No problem." He replies, and we go off to continue our days until rehearsal.

At rehearsal, we all sit around. Cara and Julia eventually go off to help one of my friends fix her new Pointe shoes, and after that Riley has to go get his costume fit, so I'm sitting alone. Two girls come up to me, whispering, and sit down. "Oh, so you and Riley are a... thing? Ha, why would he date you?!" The first one said. She was tall and skinny, and really pretty, the opposite of me.

"Yeah, probably just cause he didn't want the stage kiss to be awkward. Speaking of, how did you get the role of aurora? Seriously, you look nothing like her, you can't act, and you really can't sing." The other girl says, then they laugh and walk away. I curl up in my chair since I already warmed up and wait to get called back for fitting. That kinda ruined my day, and I guess Riley could tell.

"What's wrong aurora?" He asks, looking at me hidden in my seat. "Nothing, I'm just super tired." I say, faking a smile. "Ok...." He says, dragging out the word, he can probably see right through my lie. After rehearsal I just say goodbye to Riley, rather than walking out with him. Groff asks me the same when I get in his car, and I give him the same response.

I run to my room after Groff and i get through the stage door and try to sleep, to no prevail. The words those girls said keep running through my brain. They're probably right. Riley really doesn't love me.
