Mitch's POV

I can't really focus during the drive home. Everything that happened today so distracting, not to mention Scott being all cutesy. He hugged me like three times.
Normal friends don't do that right? Or Scott is into me or he's just always this touchy with people. I'm going to pay close attention to him at school tomorrow to see if he's just naturally a touchy person or if he only does that with me.

I wanted to stay for dinner with him but I didn't think it would be a good idea. First of all, His best friend the girl Kirstie she was not being nice to me. I I think it would be very awkward she and I are on the same table. Besides it's already late so I think my mom already cooked dinner for us.

I pull up in our driveway, putting my car in the garage.

I open the door, yelling "I'm home!" I walk in the kitchen to see my whole family already sitting around a table, eating their dinner.

"Where were you?!" My dad asks, his voice raised. He stands up from the table and walks over to me.

"I was working on a project for school." I defend myself. He doesn't have any reason to yell at me. It's not like he ever cared to where was before. I don't know why he suddenly cares now.

"And you didn't I think to message one of us?" His voice is still angry

"I messaged mom!" The moment I say it I regret it. I don't want my dad's anger to be directed towards my mom.

"I didn't check my messages." My mom says quietly. My dad already turns to my mom to probably yell at her.

"My phone probably didn't send it, it's been acting weird lately." I tried to save my mom from my dad's anger. Why is he being so dramatic! Did something happen at work or something?

My dad has finally calmed down and sits in his chair again. My mom stands up to get me a plate with dinner. She quickly puts it in front of me before sitting down again and eating her food.

Dinner goes by with just Travis and Alex talking to each other about football or something like that. My dad, me and my mom most keep quiet.

After dinner I volunteer to do the dishes with my mom. I need to talk to her about my dad, but also about Scott. I just want to talk to her about that, she excepts me completely that I'm gay. Me and my mom are close I basically tell her everything.

"So what's going on with dad?" I ask my mom when my dad and brothers finally leave the room.

"He's had a bad day at work, nothing really special." She says, not meeting my eyes. I can sense that there is more going on then this. I just let it rest for now, my mom will talk if she wants to, it's probably an issue between my parents anyway.

"So, I met a guy." I start casually, not able to contain my smile. I can't help it, I just smile when I think of Scott.

My mom immediately drops all the dishes in the sink, turning to me. "Tell me all about him!" She says excitedly, a smile on her face too.

"I only met him today, but we are partners for the project in school. He is really nice and handsome and he's such a good singer!" I can hear myself sound like a fan girl talking about her idol but I can't stop myself. Scott is just so perfect.

"He sounds wonderful, but Mitch do you know if he's gay? Having a crush on a straight boy is only going to give you heartbreak." My mom says, her eyebrows furrowed together.
