Scott's POV
I drive Mitch home, still a bit wary of his situation at his home. His father says that Mitch isn't his son but then he takes it back? Seems weird to me.
I drop him off anyway, I know now that he will call if something is wrong. And his father won't touch him physically right?
"Call me if it goes wrong okay?" I say when we're standing a block away from Mitch's house. "Not that it will but just to be sure."
"Okay." Mitch says, looking down at his hands. He does that a lot, why does he look away? Is he shy? ''I will.'' He says, looking up at me again.
I lean forwards and press a quick kiss to his forehead. I don't know what is going to happen in the future, the only thing I know is that I have to take it slow with Mitch. He is delicate so I don't want to drop the werewolf bomb on him but I also can't go any further than simple pecks with him because my canines will come out. This is so complicated.
His eyes are closed when I pull back. He slowly opens them and looks up at me through his long lashes. He is so beautiful. ''You're so beautiful.''
He immediately looks down again, the whole shy and bashful attitude he has going on is so cute but it's also turning me on a bit. I can see him looking up at me like that through his lashes on his knees in front of me.
Oh god. Time to go. ''Good luck!'' I start to retrieve back to my car. ''Bye, see you tomorrow at school.'' I almost forgot that it is monday today, we basically skipped school this entire day.
I drive back to the packhouse, parking my car.
'Alpha, can you come here?' I hear Kirstie's voice through mindlink. He voice sounds urgent and she's out of breath.
'Sure, what is it?' I walk inside the house, is she here? 'Tell me where you are.'
'We're into the woods, follow my scent. Please hurry, we have a situation.' She says before closing mindlink. What is going on?
I quickly change out of my clothes, before tying them around my ankle and shift. I run in the direction of Kirstie's smell. Something serious is going on cause she normally never asks for my help except if something is really wrong.
I keep sniffing the ground to follow Kirstie's and other pack members scents. It's unusual quiet in the forest which makes my neck hairs stand up. Something is wrong but I don't know what. Normally the birds are chirping and you can hear insects but it's like even the animals are afraid now.
When I get closer, I can smell another scent mixed in with Kirstie's. I can't identify the smell though, I need to get closer. It could be a wild wolf, not a werewolf.
It starts to stink and now I really know what it is. Rogue. There's no doubt. Only rogues stink like this. The smell of not having a pack or a bath in years takes a toll on how a wolf smells. It's disgusting, let me tell you that.
I run even faster now. Rogues are never good. The only thing they cause is chaos and a lot of distruction. I don't need that right now. I don't need that close to Mitch or my pack. They are my priorities.
I finally arrive at where Kirstie is.
There is no danger though. Kirstie and some other pack members are standing huddled together, looking thoroughly confused.
I look from their faces to the bodies on the ground. At the first sight, there is nothing strange going on. It's just rogue bodies on the ground. You would think that Kirstie and the warriors of my pack killed them.
I step closer to the bodies, inspecting them.
You see, in a normal wolf fight, lots of blood is shed. We as wolves don't use guns are knives, we use are claws and jaws. It always gets bloody, which is hard to cover up for the human world.
These bodies are not covered in blood. The ground is not covered in blood. Nothing is covered in blood.
I look at Kirstie, looking for an explanation. How is there no blood? Did she already clean up?
''We found them like this.'' Kirstie says, her voice a bit shaky. ''No blood, no bite or claw marks, no knive or bullet wounds. We don't know what happened with them.''
I look at the bodies again. She's right, I also don't see any bullet wounds. How were these wolves killed? and by who? Did the humans find a new way to kill off wolves without leaving a mess behind?
''Poison?'' I offer. I wonder how you can poison a wolf though. Wolf's bane is usually very visible. A wolf's body swells up when it comes into contact with wolf's bane.
Kirstie shakes her head. ''There is more than just no blood on the wolves or on the ground Scott.'' Kirstie says, her face getting white.
''What is it?'' I feel my heart beating in my chest.
''There is also no blood in the wolves.'' She says.
''What do you mean 'no blood in the wolves'?'' Can she just be clear.
''I mean that they don't have any blood left in their bodies.'' The reality comes crashing down on me and my blood runs cold. Oh my god. It can't be, right?
I share a look with the rest of my packmembers. They all look frightened. I need to be there for them now. I can't be afraid even though I am. ''Do you know what this means?'' Kirstie asks.
I just nod at her. There is no other explanation possible.
''Vampires.'' The word alone sends shivers down my spine.
DUN DUN DUN DUNNNNNN yes I am throwing more drama in this story.
