Piper's POV:
I shot up panting, startling Merlin who was using his staff to levitate me. He lost concentration and dropped me making me fall on top of him.
"Woah, you okay?" Merlin stood up and held out a hand to me. I ignored it and dusting myself off before getting up.
"Yeah just, had a bad dream." I shrugged. He scanned my face to see if I was telling the truth, then sighed. Probably because he figured out I was still shaken up about it.
"Are you sure?"
"Why wouldn't I be?"
"Alright, if you say so." He adjusted his hat and turned back to where he was facing before. "We're here." I turned around and noticed that we were no longer in a stone staircase, but in a dark oak room of wood. Everything was dark oak. The walls, the floor, the ceiling, the bed frame, the desk, everything. Except, for the Windows, in which the sunlight shone through the yellow glass stained panes, making it look golden. The pillow on the bed and the bedsheets were a bright white, making it stand out beautifully from the dark room. A dark mint green cloth hung from the canopy, though it was torn. And finally, a tattered gown lay on the bed. It was a strapless, shoulder-less dress. I could tell that at some point in time it once was a brilliant white like the rest of the bed, but now was a dull, faded white.
"Where are we now, Merl?" I sighed and gingerly made my way to the bed, leaning my head against one of the wooden poles holding up the bed canopy.
"One of the castle's unused rooms. I thought I'd be able to talk to you here, without risking anyone eavesdropping."
"So what did you want to tell me?"
"Well.." Merlin sat down next to me, clearly unsettled about something. "When Notch called a resident castle meeting, he explained that the reason he left with Jeb and Steve was because there was a rebel problem getting out of hand in a nearby village. I think it was called 'Lucifer' or something."
"'Lucifer'? You mean, like the devil?" I questioned him.
"How should I know? I never heard of that place until now. Anyways, he said that he recently got a threat from the rebel leader in this area that they're going to come to the castle."
"Like an attack?" I stopped him.
"No, more like a protest." Merl corrected. "He didn't want to alarm you, Micha, Sav, Remeer and Nixie so he only told the people who live here about it. And Bod said he'd explain it to Dylan, since he's the new apprentice. But we still wanted you to know."
"What about the others back at the room?"
"Oh, Quinn, Echo and Ace went to explain everything to them."
"Okay.." I ran my hand across the patterns carved into the wood. "But if they were going to tell us that anyway, then why did you bring me here to tell me yourself?" I looked up at him and he froze.
"Huh, gee, I guess I really didn't think about that." Merlin looked down. I looked around, deciding to explore the room while I had the chance. Examining the dress on the bed, I noticed something. Near the hem it had silver stitchings which read 'Gazelle'.
"Gazelle.." I read it.
"The queen." Merl sighed.
"The queen?" I asked him, still not taking my eyes off the name. Merlin shifted, but still didn't speak. "Merl?" I faced him.
"Notch's wife." He spoke grimly. My eyes widened. "Echo's mom." I bit my lip and turned back to looked at the torn gown.
"Is she.." I couldn't finish the sentence. Merlin nodded.
