Piper's POV:
I can't just lie here until sleep comes, I'll go insane before it does.
Thunder roared and lightning crackled as a storm stirred to life outside. The sounds were muffled thanks to the walls, but I could still see the streaks of white across the sky through the windows. It was either that or the flashes of light that momentarily hid the dark brewing (A/N: Or should it be brooding?) clouds.
Slowly sitting up, I checked to look at Morgan, she was still sleeping thankfully. I gingerly got to my feet and crept to the door. It was slightly open, probably because we had forgotten to close it. As I carefully pulled open the door, I glanced over at Morgan again. She was lying on her back, sprawled out on the bed. But because of its small size, her feet and one of her arms were hanging off the edge. Her other hand was firmly clutching something in her belt. A purple drawstring pouch was strapped to it, her grip on it tight. A flutter of movement caught my attention and I noticed her eyes moving under her eyelids.
Shes faking..
Deciding against confronting her about it, I slipped out the door and into the hallway. Moonlight streamed in through the barred windows at the end of the hall, shadows of rain droplets were cast on the floor. Looking to the left, I saw the pull out ladder was down
Who would be in the attic at this hour?
I had left my boots in the room, so as I tried going up I nearly slipped thanks to my socks. Silently cursing, I took those off too and stuffed them in my pocket. Once at the attic, I saw the weird, lookout widow was open. In front of it sat Merl, dangling his feet out of it per usual.
Usual? I shook my head. We've been here for a day, I can't believe I'm getting used to this place that fast.
The same thing happened for the Castle, a voice in the back of my head reminded me.
Wait, never mind, that's just Ghastly.
I told him to shut up with my mind before sitting next to Merl. For a while none of us said a word, he hadn't heard it noticed me next to him because of the storm. I worried for a minute if the lightning could get us, but shook it off as I peeked out and saw the roof extended over the lookout window.
The rain was close enough for us to reach out and touch it, but because there was much wind, it didn't hit besides the small spray of mist. It was quite refreshing, actually.
"Back here again, huh?" I joked. He didn't even seem surprised by my entrance. He just smiled,
"Yeah." Merlin nodded, still looking out at the forest line.
"Another nightmare?" I thought back to the last one he had that night at the Castle. That had shaken him up bad..
"No, just don't like lightning." He shook his head, shrugging.
"What? You were fine with it at the castle."
"Yeah, I was. But after everything that it did. It hurt yo- I mean," Merlin cleared his throat. "It nearly hurt all of us, that's something to keep me up even without nightmares." I nodded silently. "You thinking again?"
"Actually, this time 'round I'm the one who had a bad dream." Merlin's head turned to look at me for the first time.
"Are you okay?" He furrowed his brows in concern.
"I'm not scared, if that's what you're asking." I let out a quiet, breathy laugh. "Have I told you about my visions?"
It was a question I actually knew the answer to, for once. No one knew about them. I hadn't even told Micha about it.
