Piper's POV:
I grabbed the sword and rushed to Dylan.
"Dylan, what the hell happened out there?" I got to my knees and used my free hand to support Nixie's neck. And yes, nether and hell mean the same thing because the nether is hell. But hell is more serious, and even kind of harsh when used against someone.
"Nixie called me over, I went to see what was up but then-they came." His jaw clenched.
"Who?" The smile from Sav's face was gone, I had never seen her this mad before.
"The rebels. They broke down the castle gates, the guards started attacking and I told her we needed to get out of there. But they were to fast..." Dylan's eyes were glossy, tears threatening to spill.
"They shot her." I breathed, saving him the trouble of finishing himself. He only nodded. Micha immediately went to her neck and started feeling around then doing the same with her leg.
"This isn't good." Remeer cringed it the sight of his friend. Nixie started coughing and slowly, but surely, her eyes fluttered open.
"Is it that bad?" Her voice was hoarse. She couldn't have had much strength left, she was struggling to talk as it was. Sav stared over the hedge, glaring at nothing. I bit my lip and Remeer gave a half-hearted smile, meanwhile Micha still focused on what she was doing. I raised my hand a bit as to help her look down. Nixie saw her leg and gave a weak, dry laugh. "Heh... Crap." Had this been any other situation, Savannah would've shushed her before she finished, then would gestured to Micha. But having your friend get shot really takes a toll on your mood.
"It could've been worse." Dylan didn't even bother with joking. "At least the bullet only grazed you."
"Yeah, worse.. Heh." Nixie whispered before going limp. I instantly went to her wrist and sighed in relief.
"Still a pulse."
"No bumps or lumps," Micha doubled checked the neck. "No lymph nodes either."
"Why are you doing that?" Remeer questioned Micha.
"She just told you, she's feeling for any bumps or anything swollen." I glared at him, running all the possible things we could do to help her in my head.
"Why?"
"Because if there are any, which there aren't, it can become infected." Micha answered this time. Lenny taught us First aid. Surprisingly, he was pretty good at it
"What happens if it becomes infected?" We all stayed silent. "Guys?"
"That won't happen." I stood up.
"And if it does?" Dylan looked to me.
"Then we're screwed." I shook my head. Notch was always the responsible one. He hid supplies under his cot. The words echoed over and over in my head until something finally clicked. I spun around and ran to the front of a treehouse. "Three treehouses..." I looked at the one I was on just minutes before. Carved into the trunk of the tree was something I hadn't noticed before.
Steve
"...For three people." Determination flashed in my eyes. "MICHA!" I called her over. She ran with her wolf speed to reach me. "Did you go in a treehouse with a bed in it?" She nodded.
"Follow me!" Without wasting time by asking questions, she climbed up the rope ladder and sped down the rope bridge, me right on her tail. We ended up at the second treehouse. Right above the doorway was a sign with a faded name painted on it.
