Piper's POV:
"Alright hoodie, you got three seconds to explain." Echo crossed her arms.
"Hoodie?"
"That's one."
I raised my eyebrow and looked at Quinn.
"She calls people by their last name when she's upset with them, or wants to look like she's upset with them." Echo hit her arm but she continued anyway. "Echo doesn't know your last name so-"
"Quinn, shut up." Echo muttered.
"Woods." I said.
"What?"
"It's Woods. Now, as for the explanation..." I looked around trying to buy time. "This is Clyde." I grabbed his tentacle and yanked him forward. "He can talk, don't ask me why, but he can."
"Hey..." He waved a tentacle.
"Quit stalling Woods." Echo warned, tapping her foot impatiently. I sighed.
"Well, uh, it's a long story-" I was interrupted.
"We got time." Echo smirked. I groaned internally and began.
"Uh, where do I start?" I looked to Sav and Remeer.
"From the beginning?" They suggested.
"Right, let's just get this over with..
Micha and I met each other in an orphanage- we're orphans -but we ran away. In the forest we met the two guys who'd later become our guardians-"
"Bob and Lenny?" Merlin tilted his head.
"Exactly, but there's more to it than that." I paused. I'm doing this, again.. Last time it was fine, so it'll be okay, right? But last time I got lucky..
"We're waiting." Eli reminded me. I ran my hand through my hair and turned back to them.
"Bob and Lenny were- a-are... Skeletons." I shut my eyes.
Nothing. They were all quiet, I didn't want to wait any longer to be yelled at, so I kept going.
"I can understand mobs, I could understand what each of the monsters back there were saying, I can understand what Grim and Dot in Griffin's workshop are saying, I can understand them."
'Keep going..'
"Micha learned how to talk them, however. So she might not be able to talk to every single type of mob."
"You're joking-" I cut Echo off.
"Flash-forward seven years later, we have to go to the village middle school. There we met Sav, Remeer and Nix. 'Course, at the time they didn't know about all that stuff. Then after the first week there was a party. There was this brat, I got mad, ran away, and... Something happened. The next week we were back at school and those three knew about it by then. But there was a new kid. Long story short, he drove me nuts, hurt Micha and got me mad so I..." Deep breaths. "I hurt him. We had to leave because I snapped, not because they found out what Micha was. Truth is, they didn't even know-"
"Woah, woah, woah, back up." Ace stopped me. "What'd ya' mean by 'something happened'." She made air quotes and I took a deep breath.
"Don't think anything until I explain myself. Because- and I mean this- it's not what it looks like."
I pulled up my hood and looked up at them through my hair that was in the way. Slowly, I felt my eyes getting brighter and brighter, until it lit up the areas around us. The surroundings that were once dark, now looked like you were holding a torch, making easier to see. Ace's eyes widened and she naturally moved back a step, Quinn turned to her side and her hand went up to adjust her glasses. In fact, most of them turned sideways a little, a clear sign that they were starting to get into a defensive stance. Eli pulled Echo closer to him and she wrapped her arms around Donnie, who was staring at me with curiosity. Merlin was different though. He didn't flinch, nor step back. He didn't look like he was getting ready for a fight and even the grip on his staff didn't change. Instead, his eyes just widened and he tilted his head again.
