Piper's POV:
Even though we had created some distance between us, I could still here the thundering footsteps of our pursuers.
"Down here!" Quinn shouted. Despite Eli being the oldest, Quinn was the only one who had any idea where we were going. Since she had the map she had been working on and her compass. She ran to the edge of the hill we were on, where the ground dropped off into a steep slope. Holding her backpack to her stomach, she let her legs drop from under her and landed on her back. Quinn slid down the slope so fast she was just a blur. As much as we didn't like it, we had to follow after her.
I sat down, legs dangling on the edge and Merl sat next to me. He grabbed my hand and sighed. I could tell he was nervous with how far down the slope went, I was surprised Quinn had stayed on the ground and hadn't broken a bone.
"When I say 'go'," He told me. "Five.. Four... Three-" Merlin was cut short as an arrow embedded itself into the tree next to him.
"Go!" I pushed myself off, dragging him down the hill with me. I was aware of Micha skidding past me in wolf form, and saw Morgan had somehow twisted herself enough so she started going down the slope in a pencil roll.
We crashed into a pile of leaves and twigs at the bottom. I swatted the bugs off of me and Merlin spat out some dry leaves. Micha had turned back to her normal form and was tending to a wound on Eli's head. Morgan face planted next to us and Ace fell on top of her.
"Thanks for cushioning my fall." She grinned, turning to Echo. "What happened to your brother?" She asked as I helped Morgan up.
"He bashed his head on the edge of rock coming down." She explained.
"He's gonna need stitches." Micha concluded. "I think I could do it, but we don't have the time or the equipment. We need to find a place to stay."
"What's the closet village?" I asked.
"Based on our coordinates.." Quinn muttered. "I'd say it's three hours North. Which, considering we've been heading South, I doubt anybody wants to go back."
"I have an idea!" We all jumped, drawing our weapons. I aimed my bow to the sky and saw who had yelled.
Clyde flew down to us, if Ghasts could grin he would've had the biggest one on his face.
"Where have you been? You can't keep disappearing and reappearing like that!" I glared at him.
"I know, and I'm sorry. I was busy preparing that little army for when the Rebels showed up. But I know how to get you to wherever you need to go. Only problem is that we'll need a place to go to, first."
"Yeah? And where the Nether would that be?" Echo clicked her tongue. "We got kicked out of our place because it's currently the site of a battle, and apparently we're a danger to everyone since even the Safe House wasn't safe enough for us."
She continued. "Even if there was somewhere, who would even want to host us?"
"Maybe we could build a house?" Merlin suggested.
"Build a house?" Nixie fixed him with an 'are-you-kidding-me' stare.
"It's not impossible, I've done it before." Ace shrugged.
"So have I. It was really small though since I did it, like, eight years ago." Remeer added. Quinn, who had gone quiet the second Clyde started talking, looked like she was internally debating something.
Reluctantly, she let a sigh escape her. "I think I know where."
We all turned to her and she adjusted her glasses.
