Piper's POV:

I ran into the room to see what had happened. Everyone was surrounding a broken potion bottle with a clear, purple liquid pouring on the ground.

"You guys broke something?" I looked up at them.

"MICHA DID IT!!" Nixie pointed at her.

"Did not!" Micha defended herself.

"Did too!"

"Did not!"

"Did-!"

"Actually, Micha was holding a potion, Nix wanted to look at it and they ended up playing 'tug of war' with that bottle until they dropped it." Savannah explained.

"Ugh. Just help me clean it up, will ya'?" I groaned and got on my knees. While the girls went searching for some kind of tissue or cloth and Remeer kept watch for Griffin coming back, I carefully picked up the glass pieces. But clearly, not careful enough. "AH!" I pulled my hand back and clutched it. I had a fairly deep cut on my finger with blood trailing down it. A drop of it trickled down and fell into the potion. Immediately afterwards, it started bubbling and fizzing like crazy, then it's colour rapidly changed from a bright violet to black. I scooted away, eyes wide in shock, while sucking my injured finger.

"What the heck?" Nixie stopped searching for something to clean up the mess and came up behind me. Micha followed but Sav and Remeer kept doing their jobs, with the occasional glance over their shoulders. Finally Sav found a piece of cloth and handed it to me. I tied it around my finger and heard something. Like a gasp. I looked around the room but nothing had changed, so I brushed it off.

"It reacted like that when it made contact with your blood?" Remeer asked, eyes still glued to the hallway. I was about to respond when I heard the sounds of hushed, frantic whispers.

"Did you guys hear that?" I got up and scanned the room.

"Hear what?" Sav cocked her head.

"Like people..talking." I gingerly walked around the room, checking under tables in the shelves for anything.

"You heard it too?" Micha's ear perked up. I nodded.

"Just sounds like a whole bunch of quiet to me." Nixie exchanged looks with Sav and she shrugged. I kept concentrating, trying to hear any sound. Everyone stayed silent, which helped. Suddenly, I saw a flash of movement from the corner of my eye. The shadow ran behind a large desk in the corner of the room. I ran up to it, placed my hands on the desk and pushed myself up so my feet weren't touching the ground and so I could see over it.

"AH-HA!"

"AAAAAHHHH!!!" A high-pitch scream rang in my ears. I recoiled away from the desk and covered  my ears.

"And now I'm deaf." I shook my head and propped myself back up onto the desk. "Sorry to scare you," I stretched my neck out just enough so I could get a clear view of what I was talking to. It was a bat and a small eagle, although it wasn't a baby, just a very small full grown one. It was about the same size of a hawk. "Just wanted to know what was making that noise." They still seemed kind of scared of me so I tried to act more friendly. "What're your names?" For a second they didn't respond, but then they started whispering again.

"Is she talking to us?" The eagle asked. His voice sounded sophisticated (A/N: In other words, a British accent but there's no England in the world of Minecraft.)

"Well, she's looking at us." The bat's voice was scruffy and high. She was obviously the one who had screamed.

"Astute observation, Dot." The eagle rolled his eyes. I then realized that I had never been to this part of the region before, so most of the mobs didn't know me or that I could talk to them.
