Piper's POV:
"Wait, let me get this straight. You're telling me just as I shot the arrow at that last guy, I was struck by lightning?" I stared at them.
"How am I not dead?!" I was so confused.
"No clue, we're just glad you're not." Ace shrugged.
Still the girl of many emotions, I see.
Note the sarcasm.
"There is actually a small chance of surviving a lightning strike, and since it didn't strike you directly rather strike the block next to you, that chance increased. Even so, you are extremely lucky to be completely okay with no medication. Merlin made a potion to heal you a little, but that shouldn't have been enough." Quinn flipped through the pages of her book.
"Theoretically, you shouldn't even be conscious right now without being hospitalized." She explained.
"Merlin must have made one heck of a potion." Echo crossed her arms.
"I don't think Merl's potion is the thing that kept me awake.." I suddenly said, catching their attention.
"What do you mean?" Savannah asked.
"Well.." I stopped as I realized something. "Wait, where's Merl?"
"He left the second we got you here." We were in the forest, I noticed. Surrounded by low standing trees.
Micha probably told them this would be our safest bet in a lightning storm.
Living outdoors your whole life has its downsides, one of them being when in a storm with lightning. Bob usually knew about all the abandoned, 'starter-homes' people who liked survival would build themselves and then leave. He'd take us there so we were safe but on the rare occasions he couldn't, he told us how to be careful.
Now the Lightning was gone, but the dark clouds and thunder were still there.
"Out there?" I pointed to the line of trees and started panicking. We couldn't have been that far from the plains, meaning if he had kept walking chances are he'd be in open area. "But what if the lightning comes back?!" I got to my feet and started running, ignoring the calls for me to come back.
Was it stupid? Oh, no doubt, what I did was highly idiotic.
If I knew how stupid it was, then why was I doing it?
Honestly, I couldn't tell ya' that myself.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The rain was getting heavier, me hoodie was starting to get soak as rain filtered past the trees.
I am so getting sick after this..
"Merl!" I called out. It was so dark, I could barely see right in front of me. In my panic to find him before the lightning came back, I completely forgot I could light up my eyes. I stopped once I reached the edge of the forest, the huge open plains in front of me.
I dropped down and pulled my knees to my chest. For the first time in a long while, I actually felt vulnerable. Only now just realizing I didn't have my sword or my bow- that had probably been taken off me to make it easier for them to carry me - I cursed.
"Where are you, Merlin?" I whispered into the darkness. Suddenly, light poured in. I looked up to see the dark clouds had finally parted, revealing the glowing moon.
