Merlin's POV (A/N: That's right, we're finally seeing how things look from in his head):

"This is all your fault." I didn't dare move, I was too afraid of what would've happened if I did. His voice already nearly brought tears to my eyes.

"Dad.."

Smack.

I clenched my jaw and held the side of my face, a bruise was surely left behind after that. Why? Why now? He's never hit me before.

"She's dead because of you, boy." He spat, walking out of the workshop. I dropped to my knees and cried. I cried my little heart out, for all the years that I've been miserable, that we've been miserable. Every tear being a time that I had almost convinced myself this wasn't worth it. The room around slipped into blackness and all I could see was a ghostly shadow standing in front of me.

"Are you happy now?" It sneered.

"I'm sorry." I whispered, tugging at my hair.

"I don't think you are." The voice turned demonic, and I looked up to see that instead of looking like an elegant woman, her eyes were completely black. She was standing in a pool of blood and blood was trailing down her from the gash on her head.

"I'm sorry!" I yelled, tugging harsher at my hair, begging to whatever was keeping here to wake up from this nightmare. My shut tighter and my breaths were shorter, more frantic.

"If you weren't such an idiot, then I'd be alive. But no, you had to knock everything into the potion, you had to ruin everything. Just like the stupid child you are."

"No, Mom.." I begged her. Tears uncontrollably fell from my eyes and I froze, watching as she came to me with a spell in hand. I wanted to remind myself this wasn't my real mother, I wanted to assure myself my mother couldn't cast spells like this, only Dad could. But I didn't, I couldn't.

"Please..." I looked up at her one last time as she grinned sadistically, the glowing orb of power in her hand a bloody sickening red.

"Die."

I shot up, not able to breathe. Shivering, I put my face in my hands and tried to compose myself.

That had felt too real. My cheek still stung from the hit and my chest felt like it was being squeezed with an incredible amount of pressure, making it even harder to breathe. It was the exact spot where the orb.. I pushed those thoughts away and focused on my breathing. Tears stung my eyes and I blinked them back. I was so out of it, I didn't even register the voice calling my name.

Voice. It was one I knew. They were behind me, Piper.

My brain was slowly taking in my surroundings.

I was in my room, it was the middle of the night, Piper was here.

A hand on my shoulder snapped me out of my daze and made me realize something.

Piper was here.

I spun around and held her, not caring if I would regret the hug later. My cheeks flushed a little but luckily in the dim light of her eyes, literally, it was impossible to see that. But just in case I hid my face in her hair and part of her hoodie.

"It's okay, I'm here." She murmured, reassuring me. "It was just a nightmare.. You're safe now."

"It's been six years." I closed my eyes so tight it was painful, refusing to cry in front of this girl who's already seen me go through a lot.

"I know.. But you're okay. Griffin is okay... You'll live and that's what matters. That's what she would've wanted." Piper comforted. "Merlin's would be proud of you." I froze at my mother's name. I asked her what she was doing here and after avoiding he question the first time, she explained everything."
