Liam walked into his kitchen where Mrs. Jenkins was waiting for him while she served a cup of tea for him and herself.

Mrs. Jenkins had worked for him for the past three years, she was the person who cleaned his house, cooked him dinner, did his laundry and occasionally paid his bills whenever he was too busy to do it. However, a couple of weeks before, she had gone up to him and told him she needed surgery for her knee and after that she would be helping babysit her newest grandson full time, which meant she wouldn’t have any time to come an assist him a few times a week, the way she usually did.

He had agreed with much regret because he didn’t know who would be able to help him keep his house in a decent shape if she was gone.

“So...Tell me, Mrs. Jenkins…If I offered you a raise, would you stay with me after your knee surgery?” He asked knowing that he was reaching for the impossible

“Sorry dear…I’d like to enjoy my upcoming grandson as much as possible” She said “But since you’ve asked me to help you find someone, I think I’ve found someone who could replace me”

“You have?” Asked Liam before sipping from his cup of tea

“Yes…She’s a friend of my daughter Maddie…Goes to university with her” She said

“Really?” He asked surprised that a university student would agree to work cleaning houses

“Yeah…I met her last year…She goes to school at night so that’s why she shares some classes with Maddie…She’s an exchange student from Colombia, she came here on a scholarship but due to the financial crisis the university cancelled her scholarship and she was forced to either take a loan or leave the school…She works full time three days a week at a coffee shop, so I thought she could help you three times a week like I do and earn some money to help with her expenses” She explained

“Wow…Well…I guess the next logical question would be, do you trust her?” he asked raising an eyebrow

“Yes…She’s a really decent girl…She’s stayed at our house a couple of nights working on papers with Maddie and for what I’ve seen she’s a really nice girl…And she’s really motivated to get a new job to pay for her tuition” She added

“I see…” He said thoughtfully “And when can I meet her?”

“She’s coming by later, I gave her the address and we can both talk to her then” She said

“Good…Although it’d be better if you stay” He said drinking the remains of his tea and walking out of the kitchen

“I’ll be in my room if you need me” He said out loud before disappearing through the door on the way to his room. Once there he grabbed his lyric notebook and started writing down some ideas for a song.

He wrote for a few minutes straight before reading through what he had written and he realizing he was writing about his ex-girlfriend again. He felt a wave of anger rise inside him, causing him to throw away his notebook towards the corner of his room followed by his pen.

This time however, the lyrics were not sad, instead they were about the happy moments they shared together, but no matter how much he tried he couldn't help it, the words just came to him unexpectedly.

He rested his back against the headboard of his bed and took a deep breath before his mind started floating towards his previous girlfriend. Thinking about the times they sat at home watching her favorite movies, or made dinner together or simply laid in bed looking at each other after making love. He missed her pretty bad and he didn't know what else to do to get her back if she didn't want to be with him again.
