"I don't want you. Don't you get that? I'm tired of this... this shitty relationship," Stephen said, his voice strained, controlled but filled with frustration. He tried not to hurt her more, but Patricia wasn't making it easy. I stood silently to the side, my heart thumping, knowing I had no right to interrupt their stormy conversation.

"You don't know what you're saying, Stephen! You are mine forever! You're mine! Does she even know?!" Patricia screamed, her voice cracking with rage and despair. Her hands shook, her entire body trembling, unable to contain the storm of emotion inside her.

"Know what?" I asked, my curiosity sharp despite the ache in my chest.

"It's nothing," Stephen muttered, avoiding my gaze.

Patricia laughed, a harsh, bitter sound that made my stomach churn. She was clearly not surprised that Stephen had been... with me.

"So, she doesn't know. This scumbag doesn't know. Does she?!" Patricia's eyes darted toward me, venom in every word.

"What is this about?" I asked cautiously, trying not to lean on Stephen for support. My hands gripped my crutches tightly, knuckles white.

"You'll fall," Stephen murmured quietly, almost to himself.

"We have engaged, Sharon! WE ARE ENGAGED!" Patricia's voice boomed, echoing through the hall.

Her words hit me like a punch to the chest. I froze, disbelief flooding me. My heart sank. The guy I loved... he was engaged to another girl. It burned, it hurt, but deep down, I reminded myself: we weren't together. I drew a shaky breath, trying to gather myself.

I forced my eyes to meet Stephen's, disappointment and hurt etched on my face.

"So? What does that have to do with me? I told you, Patricia. We are not together. You don't have to drag me into your family drama," I said, my voice tight, trembling with barely controlled emotion. Tears pricked my eyes, but I held them back, unwilling to give her the satisfaction of seeing me break.

"You're right, Sharon... but you need to get it into your head before you get deceived. In fact, you've been deceived! You fool!" Patricia spat, her voice sharp as a knife.

"Enough! It's enough, Patricia! I've heard enough!" Stephen snapped, anger cutting through his words.

"It's not enough, Stephen! Why are you holding her? Let go of her! Leave her alone!" Patricia yanked at him, trying to pull him away from me.

I steadied myself on my crutches, forcing my legs to hold firm despite the adrenaline surging through me.

"You can go to hell with your fucking engagement. I don't care," I snapped, my voice louder, sharper than I had expected. I refused to let her see me crumble. I reminded myself: I had nothing with Stephen. I was just a random girl caught in the mess of someone else's drama. I wouldn't let it control me.

I planted my feet, held my crutches tight, and lifted my chin. Patricia could scream, rage, and cry all she wanted — it wouldn't touch me. Not anymore.
