Patricia's POV
"Are you seriously saying they kicked you out of the house — and Stephen didn't even defend you?!" Felicia asked again, her voice rising with disbelief.
"I said that, didn't I?"
I shoved my face into a silk pillow, my body sinking deeper into the mattress. My room smelled faintly of lavender and stale tears — curtains drawn shut, sunlight barely filtering through like it was afraid to enter. I hadn't stepped outside in two days.
Two days of crying.
Two days of replaying the humiliation.
My mascara-stained reflection in the mirror looked like a stranger. Puffy eyes. Pale skin. Swollen lips from biting them too hard.
Stephen's silence replayed in my head on a cruel loop.
"You heard her. She said leave."
That was it.
No defense.
No hesitation.
No fight.
The memories we shared — laughter, whispered promises, late-night confessions — felt like ashes slipping through my fingers.
And Sharon...
The thought of her twisted something dark inside me.
I clenched the pillow tighter.
She humiliated me.
She replaced me.
She acted like I was disposable.
My nails dug into the fabric as rage simmered beneath the tears.
I'll get rid of her.
Whatever it costs.
Felicia's voice broke through my thoughts.
"Wow... I mean, I have to admit — their love must be real. For Sharon to trust Stephen that much."
The air in the room changed.
I lifted my head slowly.
"What did you just say?"
Felicia's eyes widened.
"I—I didn't mean—"
"Say it again."
"You're scaring me," she whispered.
Before I could respond, my bedroom door burst open.
My father stepped in, anger radiating off him like heat from a furnace. His suit jacket was still on, his tie loosened, face flushed from whatever fury he'd carried home from his trip.
Felicia stood immediately.
"Leave," he said to Felicia without looking at her.
She scrambled out immediately.
The door shut.
The silence that followed was heavy enough to suffocate.
My father exhaled slowly, trying to steady himself, but the anger clawed its way out anyway.
"How could you not tell me?!" His hands flew up in disbelief. "I'm your father!"
I blinked, feigning confusion.
"What are you talking about?"
"Don't play games with me!" he snapped. "You're pregnant — and I had to hear it from someone else! From Stephen's father of all people!"
His voice cracked with frustration.
"And how did this even happen? Patricia, he's involved with your sister! You knew that! What were you thinking?" He paced, breathing unevenly. "You've put yourself — and this family — in a disgraceful position."
