"We have her, sir. What should we do now?" one of the kidnappers muttered into his phone, pacing the room.

A distorted voice crackled through the speaker.
"Break her. I want her to suffer."

The man smirked, running a rough hand through his hair. "Understood."

The line went dead.

Pain dragged me back to consciousness.

A groan slipped from my lips as I shifted — my back throbbed, muscles stiff and aching. My wrists and ankles burned where they'd been bound tightly against the bed.

"W...where am I?" My voice came out weak, dry.

A shadow moved.

"Oh," the man chuckled, stepping closer. "Sleeping beauty wakes. Perfect timing."

My pulse spiked. Memory rushed back — the street, the car, the hand over my face.

"You... kidnapped me." Panic clawed its way into my chest. "What do you want? Money? My parents have money — they'll pay anything. Please... just let me go."

He crouched beside me, smiling like this was entertainment.

"Money?" he scoffed. "This isn't about money. We were given a job. And honestly..." His gaze dragged over me in a way that made my skin crawl. "...I'm enjoying it."

Fear flooded me.

"Please..." I whispered, forcing my voice steady despite the tremble in my body.

He leaned closer, invading my space, clearly feeding off my distress.

"You're scared," he murmured. "That makes this interesting."

My mind raced.

Panic wouldn't save me. Begging wouldn't save me.
I needed to think.

"I... I won't fight," I said softly, forcing calm into my tone. "Just... untie me. I won't cause trouble."

He studied me, suspicion flickering — then amusement returned.

"Smart girl," he said, loosening the restraints.

The moment my wrists were free, blood rushed painfully back into them. I flexed my fingers, pretending compliance while my heart pounded like war drums.

This wasn't surrender.

This was survival.
