"I said... promise me you'll never hurt me, Stephen."
My voice came out softer than I intended, laced with fear I couldn't hide. The room felt too quiet, the air thick with unspoken things.
"I..."
"Oh God." I swallowed hard, forcing a small, brittle smile. "Just tell me — have you changed your mind or something? I'll understand."
I wouldn't.
My whole world would crumble. My heart would feel torn apart all over again. The thought alone made my chest tighten.
"It's not what you think, Sharon."
"It's not what I think?" I inhaled slowly, steadying myself. "I asked you twice. Twice — and you didn't answer."
My fingers curled against my lap.
"Just tell me... are you seeing someone else?"
The fear in my voice trembled on the edge of breaking.
"What? No!" He sat up straighter, eyes wide. "I'm not, okay? You know I wouldn't do that. I was just teasing. Of course I wouldn't hurt you... I mean— I don't want to. But I'm scared too, you know."
I blinked. "Scared?"
"Yeah." He rubbed the back of his neck. "Just promise you won't run back to Aaron. I've seen how he affects you. You like him... don't you?"
"It's not what you think, Stephen."
God... what kind of mess have I tangled myself into?
"Oh, it definitely is," he muttered. "Remember when I came begging? You two kissed right in front of me — like some Romeo and Juliet scene."
I groaned. "You're still stuck on that? Seriously, it was nothing."
I reached for his hands, rubbing my thumbs across his knuckles. "I can't believe you're still jealous."
"Nothing? You were kissing like you'd been— you know."
"What? No. Where are you even getting these ideas?" I stared at him, surprised he'd carried this all along.
"Well..." I hesitated. "It's not like you haven't tried to move on either. I mean... wouldn't you want to ease the pain a little?"

Stephen's POV
She was fishing — trying to get me to confess something.
Sorry. Not happening.
We both made mistakes. Things happened. And neither of us knew the full truth then. So who's guilty?
I leaned back with a crooked grin.
"Come on. You know I'm not the type to run around fucking every girl. Honestly, after everything... I shut down."
"Gosh, shut up," she muttered, dragging a hand through her hair, trying to suppress laughter.
"And stop saying that word. It's so..." She winced.
"You mean that word?" I repeated, deliberately innocent.
"Stephen."
I smirked.
"Don't push me."
I chuckled, and she finally laughed — tension dissolving between us like mist under sunlight.
"Come here," she murmured.
She leaned forward, kissing me softly before pushing me back onto the mattress. The sheets rustled, warm and familiar, as she slipped off her top.
"Talking about temptation," I muttered, shaking my head, letting myself relax into the moment.

Patricia's POV
"Mmm..."
I let out a soft breath as Tyler kissed along my neck, his touch playful and lingering.
"Wait." I suddenly sat upright, heart jumping when I noticed the door slightly ajar. "Hold on."
"What now?" he groaned.
"The door's open. The staff could walk by — and my dad hears everything."
He rolled his eyes, grabbing a pillow — then froze.
"What's this?"
A folded paper peeked out from underneath. He reached for it.
I snatched it from his hands.
"Why'd you do that?" he asked, brows knitting together.
"It's nothing." I tossed it casually onto the table. "Don't worry about it."
"Okay..."
But before I could react, he picked it up again and unfolded it, reading.
His expression changed instantly.
"So... you're pregnant." His voice hardened. "Why didn't you tell me? I'm guessing it's mine."
I took the paper back slowly and sat on the edge of the bed.
"I'm sorry, Tyler. It's not yours."
"What?" His frustration sharpened. "What are you talking about? Of course it's mine."
"It's Stephen's," I said quietly. "We've been involved for a while."
His jaw tightened.
"Don't play games with me. That baby is mine. I know you're planning something — but it won't work."
He pulled his clothes back on angrily.
"Babe, don't get upset—"
"I am upset." He stepped toward the door. "You don't want me — you just want things your way. I'm done."
The door slammed behind him.
I stared at the paper in my hand, anger bubbling up.
"Ugh... stupid paper."
I crumpled it slightly, tossing it aside — the silence of the room suddenly far louder than before.
