Chapter 185- Shock. 👶

Isabella stepped into the car and smiled at Klaus as he joined her, he was taking her back to the hospital, since finding out she was pregnant, his protection over her had only grew, he had even arranged for the two of them to return home early, the others choosing to stay.

"Do you really want to go home?" She queried as she played with his hand which she'd pulled into her lap, he turned slightly to her and smiled softly and her, leaning over and kissing her forehead when get turned onto a straight empty road.

"Yes, I want us to go home and spend some time together" he informed and she nodded and beamed at him, leaning over and resting her head on his shoulder as he drove along the road, he hoped to find out the babies gender but of course that is impossible at this early time, however the witch who was the nurse had powers which allowed her to do such things.

"I am so excited to see our baby for the first time" Bella giggled, she was still overwhelmed by it all and couldn't comprehend what was happening but she was also ecstatic, she'd never been so happy about anything in her entire life.

"I'm just happy to see you happy" he returned in a smile and brushed his lips to the hand of hers which he held, a dusty kiss of passion and happiness. When he listened, he could hear two heartbeats, hers and another but of course it never occurred to him that her heart didn't beat...

His car rolled into the car park, the gravel crunching loudly beneath the expensive tires in almost warning of their fast approaching presence. White lines scattered unsymmetrically as unsuccessful space markers, the gravel causing the lines to waver.

"Ready love?"

"I'm ready" her beaming smile returned and highlighted her ever present defined cheekbones, the slightest of indents appearing as her lips spread wide, it was the smile which never failed to light up his world, no matter the circumstances.

"Let's do this" he smiled and stepped out of the car, briskly cold air swirling around his limbs instantly, his usual Henley shirt flapping like a flag beneath his thick winter coat as he allowed gravel to crush underfoot, his hands quickly finding the handle of Bella's door and aiding her.

"Nik" she whispered as he gently tugged her from the car, he gazed up innocently through his long lashes and despite the fact that he was an all feared hybrid, that look could thaw the cruelest of hearts. "I get that you are worried about the baby but you don't need to be this protective, I'm okay" she whispered and he frowned instantly.

"I'm not just worried about the baby, Bella, I'm worried about you too, if this baby manages to hurt you and it comes down to a choice, I'd choose you in a second, no matter how rash that sounds." He persisted and pulled her into his chest.

"And I love that you think that way" she smiled and returned his hug as he pulled her to the entrance (noticing her shivering). As they reached the reception of the empty medical center, he turned back to her.

"It's my duty love, you're my wife" Klaus replied as the nurse behind counter glanced up, her eyes recognizing him immediately before punching numbers into the phone beside her, calling the witch nurse instantly who took only seconds to get there.

"Mr Mikaelson? Would you and your wife like to follow me?" She asked, interrupting their monotone conversation part way and Klaus was as angered by it as he'd always been. He may forever hide his hybrid tendencies from his wife in the same way as the other vampires did but that didn't change who he was.

"Thank you, come on Nik" Isabella smiled, calming her husband with just a touch of the hand. As they walked through the halls, it became clear that the nurse was taking them to a different room than where she previously was.

"How much longer?" The hybrid complained, he'd become bored of it by then and the smell of old blood was infiltrating his nose in a way that he evidently resented, Bella sent him a glance and he relaxed, he was merely excited to see his baby for the first time.

When they finally reached the room, the nurse directed them to the bed and Klaus unnecessarily lifted Bella onto it, said brunette smiled in appreciation and did as the nurse ordered, pulling her cotton shirt up to reveal her tanned and toned stomach which visibly rose and fell due to her heavy breathing.

"So today I'm going to do an ultrasound, it will take a few seconds and i warn you now Mrs Mikaelson, it's quite cold." The nurses monotone voice informed before Bella found out exactly what she meant, the gel cooling her flesh before the machine began.

As they waited for the image, Bella reflected upon the past few days, Nik managed to get her appointments with a high end doctor for a private meeting despite the fact that Bella wasn't even from that country let alone registered in that hospital.

"Ah, here we go" the lady broke through Bella's thoughts and Bella glanced up at the slowly lightening screen "oh" the lady gasped .

"What?" Klaus snapped instantly from his wife's side, his hand in her, clasped softly in affection. The lady glanced at him with a beam, unaffected by his jab and the next news shocked them both.

"It appears you are having twins" she beamed and her hands rested against Bella's stomach as she searched for the gender, her eyes lighting in happiness. "A girl and a boy"

"Finley and Faith" Klaus gasped out through tears and Bella returned his glossy gaze, nodding violently in agreement.
