2 Months Later..
"Are you excited?" Dan ran up to my desk when I sat down in science class. I looked up at him, confused.
"For what?" I asked. My shoulder still hurt from some kid pushing me into a locker again. I just focused on my crush, looking as adorable as ever, bouncing up and down.
"It's the last day until Christmas break!" He announced giddily. I laughed a little, he was so excited, it was like watching a little kid.
"Sure, I guess." I told him. His smile fell and he kneeled down.
"How does one not get excited? Are you an alien? Or Jewish?" He joked. I laughed, shaking my head. His hair hung in his eyes. He needed a haircut, but he kept forgetting.
"No, it's just my parents told me I couldn't go back to Manchester. That was the plan up until yesterday, and I'm pretty sad about it." I explained. I was going to stay with Rachel and her family. Even Cece was going, but my parents told me I couldn't, because I had an appointment with the stupid therapist and they couldn't reschedule it.
"Aw, Phil." He made an over exaggerated sad face, sticking out his bottom lip. "Well, we're having another campfire tonight, you can hang out with us. You don't need your friends in Manchester. Especially since you have me!"
"Shut up, Dan." I grinned widely at him.
"Will you come, though?" He asked quickly. Mrs. Wentz had just walked into the room.
"Of course. Now go sit down." I demanded.

"Oi! Phil!" Dan yelled from the other side of the fire. I said hi to everybody there. It was almost the same people since the beginning. Cece, Shane, Karina, Lovely, Sadie, Damian, yet no Ryder. Dan and Ryder had broken up a month ago, and he refused to hang out with us anymore. I didn't complain. Robbie (Cece's crush) had also joined us, so no one really cared anymore about Ryder.
I sat down in between Cece and Dan. They were my two best friends in London. I had slowly introduced them to Fall Out Boy, and they liked it more and more each week.
"Guys!" Dan yelled to everyone. They all looked up from their conversations; Dan was the leader and they all listened to him.
"No school for 3 weeks!" He called. There was no one close enough to hear us except us. We all cheered and I was handed a sprite. I loved how nerdy everyone in this group was, too scared to drink alcohol until we were all 18. I would be 18 in a little more than a month, and I was excited.
"So, Cece! When are you guys going to Manchester?" I turned to her. By 'you guys' I meant her family; her mum, dad, and her hot older brother. Seriously, he was truly sexy.
"In three days. I wish you could come." She frowned. I was excited as she was, going to see my best friend and her cousin, Rachel Oakley.
"I do too." I sadly smiled. I hadn't told anyone the reason I was staying behind. Not even Rachel. My parents were so unfair to schedule that when I desperately wanted to see my friends. Whenever I went to the therapist, I would ask the same question.
"What's wrong with me?" I would say.
"Nothing's wrong with you, Phil." Dr. Navis would say. I knew she was lying, there was something wrong with me.. but I didn't know. It pissed me off so much.
"Dan, are you going anywhere for Christmas?" I asked him, taking a sip of my drink.
"No, my mum decided not to go anywhere. We would usually go to my gran's but not since my dad... left." He sighed. He missed his dad so much. I felt so bad for him and I wanted to help him, but I couldn't make his parents love each other again.
Just like I couldn't make him love me.
"Oh, well at least I'll be here." I shrugged and looked into his adorable brown eyes.
"Yeah, I guess." He shrugged this time. I threw my skinny arm over his shoulders. It was a little hard, considering he was a little taller than I was.
"At least someone will be here to remind you to get a haircut." I smiled up at him. He grinned at me too. Our flirtationship had gotten a little out of hand, I wished he would just ask me out already. But I knew he wouldn't.
-
After an hour or two, I decided to go home because I was getting cold. I should've brought a jacket I thought. I was only wearing a sweatshirt, as usual.
"Awwwww!"
"See you Phil."
"Bye!"
Responses flew from around the group. This group had become the first group of friends I'd had. It was so nice to belong.
"I'm cold too, I'll come with you." Dan made an excuse and stood up with me. I nodded and bit my lip, adjusting my glasses a little. People had started to figure out that I did that, though.
"Bye guys!" The group chorused. I said a personal goodbye to Cece and Robbie. They weren't dating yet, but I had a good feeling it was going to happen soon.
Dan and I walked together out of the woods. It got colder and colder as we walked away from the fire and I shivered more.
"Hey, you look cold." Dan noticed. I shook my head to be polite, but he nodded. He took off his leather jacket and draped it around me.
"Thanks, but aren't you cold?" I asked, grabbing the jacket corners. He didn't have to do that, but it was such a sweet gesture.
"Nah." He said. I giggled, with his articulate accent, something like 'nah' sounded funny. I loved it.
There were a few minutes of content silence, then Dan started to sing quietly.
"He's the guy that no one ever knows. And I say hi but he's too shy to say hell-o. He's just waiting for that one, to take his hand and shake him up- I bet I could." He edited the shes to hes.
"The gay guy version." Dan explained. I blushed, but he couldn't see me. It was so dark at this time of night, because it was winter.
"I see that." I said, blushing more furiously than ever. Was he flirting with me? I couldn't tell, but I hoped he was.
"Here's my stop." He pointed to his house when after a minute. I didn't want him to leave. I had an overwhelming urge to hold his hand. I wanted to so badly..
"Here's your jacket," I started to take off the jacket on my shoulders. He shook his head, though.
"I'm not going anywhere, you can return it later." He winked. I gasped silently and nodded. Even though I was dying inside. He was clearly flirting with me!
"I will." I breathed.
"Bye, Phil." He smiled as walked up his steps.
"Bye Dan." I whispered as his door closed.
