Megumi's POV
It's been a while since the incidents with the wolves happened. With all the howling that went on that night, of course, the whole village had plenty of questions to ask. The howling is quite normal around here but, I am sure the adults and elderly noticed how close the sounds were.
My hand paused mid motion at the thought. The door to the rooftop looked intimidating to me. I saw Satsuki-san and Kuroko-kun's parents send them to school today. Satsuki-san's arm was still bandaged while Kuroko-kun's head was now okay but, there was a scar left on his forehead.
I wonder if they called me to come out here to tell that their parents wanted to sue me. A parent once threatened to do that to me too when I was younger.
"Stop worrying so much, Megumicchi.." A large hand landed on the top of my head, messing my hair slightly. I looked up to see Kise-kun's honey brown hues staring at me.
"W-What if they hate me now?" I looked down, also withdrawing my hand from the doorknob.
"There's no way that that's going to happen! You saved them.." I didn't respond to that. I saved them. But, now they know who I am really am. Now they know what the other part of me is like.
I haven't talked to them very much since the incident. I also had to stay at home for a few days to calm down. It's like I'm crazy but, I'm not!
I like being with everyone.
"Don't make me kiss your forehead again," Kise-kun whispered. I knew my face was already red. I could feel the heat. He put his arm around my shoulder and pulled me closer to his side, my shoulder bumping onto his chest.
He led my hand to grab the doorknob, his hand on mine the whole time.
"If you're afraid to open the door on your own, we'll open it together. Okay?" I looked up at him. His eyes twinkled like always. His smile was still intact.
"O-Okay.." I answered slowly.
"Alright, on 3! 1.. 2.." I closed my eyes as I turned the knob with Kise-kun's hand on mine. "3!"
People with colourful hair greeted my sight when the door opened. All of them were lined up with Satsuki-san and Kuroko-kun in the middle holding a cake together.
"WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL, MIRAI-SAN/MEGUMI-CHAN/MIRAI/MI-CHIN!" they cheered, Satsuki-san being the loudest among them.
"Minna.." I felt a tear rolling down my cheek. I bit the inside of my cheeks to stop them but, it didn't work. They're all smiling. I don't know what's going on but, all of them smiling and greeting me as simple as that makes me happy.
"Megumi-chan!" Satsuki-san pulled me into a bear hug.
"Y-You don't hate me?" I asked on impulse.
"What?" she pulled away from me and pouted. Her injured arm was still in the process of healing but, she looked so cheerful. "You saved us! Besides, we're friends, right? I would never hate you!"
"But, you know about the other me now. I hurt people before, you know.."
"The past should be left behind, Mirai-san. Now, you are in the present and we all love having you around. Thank you for saving us.." Kuroko-kun walked over to us to show the cake. It looked so pretty.
"See? There was nothing to be worried about," Kise-kun ruffled my hair again. I know that he's grinning from ear to ear from the tone of his voice.
"Oi.." That deep lazy voice must belong to Aomine-kun. "What took you two so long anyway?"
"Ouch!" Kise-kun whined. A small box landed on the floor as Kise-kun conforted the back of his head. "Megumicchi, Aominecchi threw something at me!"
