since school is coming up, and i know at least i'm already starting to feel the stress, i figured i'd write down some things that help me relieve stress. some of these might seem v simple but sometimes thats exactly what you need
- if you have a pool or have access to a pool, get a good raft to lay on and just float. close your eyes and listen to all the different sounds around you, really focus on each one. when you're starting to feel kinda sleepy and about to drift off, roll off the ragy and into the water. it'll feel great after soaking up the sun and getting all warm.
(i just did this)- draw flowers. whether you consider yourself an artist or not. not an intricate rose, not a bouquet of lilies. the kind with a circle and the middle and five ovals for petals. draw it over and over and over again. fill a page, or your hand, or your arm.
- sit down in a quiet, comfy place with a cold bottle of water and take a sip. then, breathing slowly, count to ten or twenty (one-one thousand, two-one thousand) then take another sip. repeat this until the bottle is gone.
(i do this all the time, especially when i get frustrated with a piece of art i'm working on)- take a nap. just walk away from whatever you're doing that's stressing you out, and lay down and sleep, or just close your eyes for half an hour. not a few hours, just long enough to feel refreshed and renenergized.
- if you have a dog, go to a park or an empty field nearby and play fetch. don't punch something when you're angry, don't break things, just throw that ball or stick or whatever as hard as you physically can without hurting yourself. release all your anger into it. plus your doggo will have fun, so its a win win.
- do your makeup. no, not for "nothing". for you. put on that bright red lipstick you normally wouldn't wear. put on "too much highlighter". do an elaborate sparkly cut crease eyeshadow look that there's no way you'd normally have time for in the morning. put on some big ass fake lashes. just have fun.
- talk to someone about anything but what's stressing you. yes, its good to talk about what's made you feel like that, but not while you're holding in all that pent up frustration/anger. talk about something else that went good that day, no matter how small. talk about a movie you saw five years ago. talk about something funny your parent said when they were trying to be cool. talk about anything under the sun, just as long as it gets your mind off the stressor.
remember that i'm always here to talk if you need. about anything. if you need to rant or just get your mind off things, you can message me. i don't care if all you want me to do is send you pictures of cute dogs. it won't annoy me, you won't be a burden. i'll be happy to help. i love you ❤
