Chapter 6
I was lost.
In fact, I was so lost that I had ended up in the boiler room.
"Where the heck am I?" I asked myself.
"You're in the boiler room." I heard a voice say.
I jumped an spun around. The boy named Ryder was leaning against the doorway. He was wearing a red shirt.
"I'm lost." I told him truthfully.
"Of course you are." He said.
"Can you help me?" I asked him. "I need to go to History of Witchcraft."
He thought about it for a minute.
"Nah."
Wait, what?
He started walking away, and I followed him. "Please? I need help." I pleaded him.
"Hmm. I'm good."
I followed him up a staircase. "You helped me last night." I reminded him.
"Exactly," he said, turning a corner. "That's why I shouldn't have to help you anymore." I frowned.
"That's not nice." I said to him. He burst out laughing.
"I'm not a nice person." He said, still chuckling.
"I don't want to miss my first class!" I told him. He smirked.
"Guess you're going to, sweetie."
"I can't! It's my first day!" I told him as he turned another corner. He stopped.
"Well then why don't you just go to class?" He asked as if I were stupid.
"Because you won't show me where my--" He raised his eyebrows and smirked, pointing above his head. A sign read History of Witchcraft.
"Oh." I said quietly. He chuckled a little.
"I see you're a gullible one. That should be fun." He told me. I ignored the comment and walked inside.
"Thank you." I whispered to him. He nodded. I found Daniel, and I sat next to him. For the next hour, I listened to the professor talk about a weird group thingy of witches. Daniel and I had come here towards the beginning of the school year, but that didn't mean we were caught up. I looked at Daniel, who was just as confused as I was. At the end of class, the teacher let us talk.
Sarah approached us and began talking to us.
"Sarah? Can I ask you a question?" I asked. She smiled and nodded.
"Of course."
"Who's that boy? He helped me find the classroom." I said, pointing at Ryder. Her eyes widened.
"Oh, that's Ryder Mitchell. He's an amazing warlock. Like, one of the best I've ever seen. But he's a total bad boy, which doesn't make sense. He doesn't listen in class, yet he is like the best warlock here." she told me. Wow.
"Why? Do you like him? It wouldn't surprise me." She asked. "A lot of people do."
I felt Daniel's eyes on me. He never approved of any guy that I've ever liked. Not that I liked Ryder or anything. I didn't answer her.
"Let's go." Daniel said, pulling me with him out the door.
"Daniel, I have a different class than you." I told him.
"I don't care. I'm taking you there."
