What have I done...

Lapis POV

I stepped into the building, looking around with my mouth wide.

As plain as it was, the size of the agency's building was impressive, and I just had to gawk.

MY phone buzzed and i pulled it out. Steven had texted me.

Steven: you here yet?

Laz: just walked in. This building is HUGE.

Steven: haha yeah, you'll get used to it. I'm with the chief RN. Peridot will probably be here soon.

Laz: alright, how do i... get to you?

Steven: take the elevator. 3rd floor. There should be a receptionist. Also, I talked to peridot earlier, about you guy's talk.

Laz: ugh god it was so awkward, I think I had the wrong apartment. A girl answered.

Steven:... yeah uh... that was my bad. you should get up here. I'll explain.

Laz: alright.

I shoved my phone back in my pocket and walked over to the elevator. It opened on the third floor, and I walked out.

This floor looked more like a plain office building, and people in black outfits walked around, some talking, others sitting and working, and there was one who seemed to be complaining.

I looked around a bit, and saw Steven in an office with a man. They were talking and smiling. I also saw the receptionist, but I knew where I was going.

I walked over and before I could knock, Steven turned around and opened the door for me.

"Lapis, this is the Cheif." I nodded to the man and extended my hand with a smile, which he took and gave a firm handshake.

"So you're the reporter who's going to be partnered with Greene."

I nodded. "Yes sir. I can't wait to work with him."

They both froze, looking at eachother, Steven gave a nervous smile. "Yeah... Lapis about that... uh... funny story..."

I suddenly heard the door open behind me. I turned to see a the woman I saw yesterday, though her hair was brushed now, and she wore a plain black agency uniform.

We had a moment of awkward silence,just looking at eachother.

GOD her eyes were such a beautiful, brilliant green.

Steven stepped forward.

"Lapis, this is Peridot Greene."

Oh no.
