[timeskip to next day]

Lapis POV.

I slid slowly into the bath, letting out a sigh.

It was good to be home. I'd spent all day at the agency building. The chief explained exactly how I was to go about "trailing", and Peri got issued a gun.

I was a little nervous at that. But Peri doesn't seem to trigger happy. It'll be fine.

I felt myself blush a little. Peri. I wanted to call her that, but from what I got from Amy, her friend and coworker, she hates nicknames.

Peridot was so formal of a sounding name. And there were so many nickname possibilities, But I don't want to upset her.

I somehow let an hour go by, and not wanting to become a raisen, I get out.

I rubbed my hair with a towel, now having on a dark tee and some shorts. I suddenly get a text.

Unknown number?

Unknown: hey, I'm outside.

Laz: umm.... who?

Unknown: ? Oh right sorry, lazuli it's me, Greene.

Laz: oh, hey. Wait you're outside? My house?

Peridot: yeah I kinda got a lead. I figured you'd wanna go with me. I mean unless you dont want to...

Laz: no no sorry just Give me like 15 minutes I'll be out.

I run to get on some jeans and a tank top, throwing a thin, dark blue and black jacket over it.

I suddenly realized I never gave Peri my address and it made me slightly uncomfortable.

No, its... it's fine. It's probably good she knows where to find me anyway.

I stepped out and saw a familier blonde leaning against a motorcycle. I couldn't help but giggle a little. She looked like some teenage boy waiting for his date.

I instantly blushed at the thought.

She looked up, giving me a small smile and walking towards me.

"Sorry, I know it's sudden, but I just want to cover it." She looked worried, like she was afraid she'd offended me or something.

"It's alright, just maybe next time give me a 30 minute heads up?" I gave her a smile. "It's nice that you even thought to come get me. The agency being so secret and all with their cases"

She blushed a little, stumbling on her words. So freaking cute. "I... well I mean... its... uhh..."

I laughed again and patted her shoulder, scaring her a bit. "So what's this lead of yours? Also how did you get my address?"

"One of the victims parents suspected a ex, who happens to connect to all the victims. I figured we could go talk to her, and maybe the ex?"

I nodded, and was about to follow her, but I stopped. "Wait you didn't answer my second question. How'd you know I live here?"

She turned, looking a little embarrassed "oh.. uh Steven gave me your address, said I'd probably need it."

I nodded again, approaching the motorcycle. Let's do this.

------------------------------------------------------------

We arrived at a house, and from what Peri told me it was the mother of one of the victims, Allie Roland.

As I removed the spare Helmet peridot gave me, she turned towards me.

"let me talk... alright? It's kindof a touchy subject..." she said it gently, I assume trying not to hurt my feelings and i nodded.

"This is your case, peridot. I'm just... here. I observe." I gave her a small smile and shook my head to kinda fix my hair.

I followed her up the steps and before we even got to the door, it opened and a light haired woman opened up.

Her face softened when she saw us. "You actually came..." Peri walked up, giving her a smile.

As she extended her arms to gently grip one of the woman's, she spoke. "Of course, Ms. Roland. I'm Agent Greene. This is my..." she froze, turning to me.

It took her a second but she turned back around. "Associate." I hoped she would have said partner, but she wasn't thrilled at the idea. I couldn't blame her. Peridot let her hands fall back to her side.

"Now, May we come in?"
