Journalist!?

Peri's POV

I couldn't believe this. That girl...lapis...

I was speechless. Why was she HERE? I found myself just staring at her.

Her blue eyes were pale, but... god they were gorgeous.... she was wearing a grey tank top, jeans and a short jean jacket. I was about to ask her something when Steven stepped forward.

Wait Steven is here too?

"Lapis, this is Peridot Greene."

She blushed. Still looking at me. Wait did she still think I was a guy?

"Oh... uhh" her face was getting redder.

I decided to act like it was nothing. Least I can do is save her some embarrassment.

"So... what is going on? Steven? Why are you here?"

Lapis didn't move, looking down at her feet to avoid showing her blushing face. I couldn't look at her for long. I didn't want to become a blushing mess.

"Greene, I hope you looked over the case?"

"Of course sir." It was something about some teens missing. And the families complaining of lack of investigations on the Police's part. So it was sent to us.

"Well I mentioned yesterday a partner. It was... it's not my call, but miss lazuli has been cleared to follow you while you investigate."

I opened my mouth in disbelief. Work with HER!? I barely knew her. And the fact we didn't get the best first introductions.

"I'm not sure... I understand sir. She's gonna follow me?"

I was so confused. Who was this girl.

He sighed. "Ms. Lazuli is a journalist. The heads of the agency have made it clear that she is following the agent assigned to this case, Because it's a public Case."

I glanced over at lapis, she had finally stopped blushing, and now had her hands crossed. She didn't look angry, and she glanced over at me.

Her expression was blank, but I could see something in her eyes...

I looked away. "Sir, I don't know if..."

"It's not a choice, Agent Greene. For either of us. Since both of you know Mr. Verse, I thought it would be best to assign the case to you." He crossed his arms.

I couldn't believe this. A partner I could be okay with, but a journalist? She could mess this up for me.

"Now I know it's not practical, but I've already talked things out and the heads agree that since you might come across criminals, you'll be issued a gun." I smiled a little at this.

"Now if you three wouldn't mind, I think we all have work to do." He motioned to the door.

This was a mess.
