Peri's POV.
Eventually, and sadly, I had to pull away from lapis's strange hug. I felt 10x better knowing we never actually hated eachother, but dumb for making her think it was her fault.
Our eyes met and she smiled again. I felt my self blush and I looked down. Our hands were intertwined. I slowly pulled away and coughed.
What was this girl doing to me?
"I uh... ill... drop you off at home..." I managed to say, before turning the key.
"No." I turned to her, surprised. "No Peri, you're not. You should stay at my place, your place is a solid 40 minute drive, you're injured, and it's storming."
"I'm not hurt that bad..."
"Peridot. Please?" Her gaze softened, but her expression was worried. I had to admit, my arms ached from bruises, my eye hurt, and my stomach was knotting up.
At least two of those were from the fight.
I groaned, turning back to face forward. "Fine." She giggled a little and I felt myself blush again. Why was she... ugh god...

I pulled into the driveway, but sat there for a second. How were we supposed to get to the door with all the rain...
"Run for it?" I turned to see lapis shrugging. How did she know I was thinking that?
I smiled though. "Go." I opened the door and slammed it, sprinting up the steps with lapis just behind, she unlocked the door and we practicly fell inside.
I laughed. "That was interesting." She giggled too, throwing a small purse I didn't realize she had until now, onto her couch.
"You wanna clean up?" She looked back at me.
"Shower?" She nodded. "Eh... I'm good for now. You can if you want." I rubbed my face. I heard her walking upstairs, and I peeked.
Her dress looked Gorgeus on her. I hadn't seen it very well until now. It almost... shined? I realized I was staring and she giggled at me.
"You okay?" I shook my head, blushing even more. "Uh... ye...yeah" she raised an eyebrow and winked at me, laughing as i got more flustered, then kept walking, turning the corner out of my sight.
I realized I was still smiling. Smiling like a fool. A fool who had fallen for a girl I shouldn't have. There were so many things wrong with it, we were technicly coworkers, we'd only met 2 weeks ago, and I had never dated.
I sighed, laying on the couch with my hand over my eyes. I should tell her. I'm probably going to stutter and blush and look like an idiot, but honestly, the worse that could happen is she'd leave the case.
The thought that I'd never see her again made me sad, but that would be her choice.
Then I started thinking about details. We'd have to keep it a secret, so I wouldn't get fired. I smiled at the though of sneaking around while being with lapis.
Forbidden. I chuckled.
"Something funny?" I shot up, seeing lapis in shorts and a slightly baggy tee, and a towel wrapped around her neck. Did I really let my mind wander that long?
"Oh... ha didnt.. uh... see you... there" oh god I was already stuttering. Lapis giggled. "You can take a shower now if you want." She sat down next to me, running her hand through her hair to get it out of her eyes.
God even when she's doing normal things my heart fluttered. "Uh.. m-maybe." I went back to sitting position, while silence settled in again. I played with my thumbs.
Here we go.
"Lapis..?" She turned.
"Yeah? Something wrong?"
"N-no...i uhm... I..." i scooted closer, turning to face her. Her blue eyes were wide enough for me to drown in.
"I... I need to tell you something." I was determined now. I sat up a little straighter and furrowed my brows to show it.
"Lapis, over the past... 2 weeks we've known eachother, I've found myself enjoying your company. M-more than I thought I would." I paused, breathing in deeply while squeezing my own hands together.
I looked away slightly "ive... I've never been good with.. people. I'm better with facts, information, being able to guess patterns and data. Predictable things are so much easier..." she was staring at me, slightly confused.
I needed to get back to my topic. "B-but... but with you... you're more unpredictable than I've ever seen someone be. When I think I know what you're gonna do, you do something different. It drives me insane."
Lapis giggled a little, smiling, but still clearly confused where I was going with this. I took another deep breath and gently took her hand in mine, her eyes widening at my action.
"Lapis, I think... I think I have... feelings for you. Beyond friend ship. And I understand if you don't feel the same, but I can't go on pretending like I'm fine with the distance I'll certainly create...." I felt myself trying to make her understand, and I was kinda rambling.
"In the forest I didn't want to accept it, because I'd never felt this way, and it killed me, but I thought it would be better to keep my distance, so I pushed you away..." I felt my eyes tear up again. She hadn't said a word...
"I..."
Her finger pressed against my lips and I looked up. "Peridot, stop." I shivered, she said it so softly... and she was blushing.
"Peridot... is this why you've been avoiding me?" I nodded, looking away. I hadn't realized I was shaking until that moment. My nerves were through the roof and my heart beat so fast...
"I think im in love with you lapis, and I can't stop."
