Peridot POV.

"No."

"Oh cmon, you haven't moved in over a week! Peri you can't jus-"

"Don't. Ever. Call me that." I growled, turning and pulling the blanket back over my head. That was her nickname...

Amy sighed, leaning back in the chair. "This sucks..." she murmered, then I heard her stand up.

"Peridot, it's not your fault. Remember that. And... it'll be okay... Maybe not now but..." she faded off, and sighed, before her footsteps carried her to the door and it opened and closed, leaving me in silence again.

I closed my eyes, not bothering to see what time it was, as I curled into myself as i silently choked on my tears.

"Lapis..." I whispered, gritting my teeth and hating this. Sitting here doing nothing and hoping she was okay.

While I most certainly wasn't anywhere near "okay".

I'd suffered worse physically. Beatings, and falls, and even a grazed bullet.

But this hurt so much worse. I would rather have the pain of a bullet then this. The pain of not knowing if she was even alive at this point. Not knowing who even had her. Not knowing what the future held for me at all.

I wasn't on the case anymore. I had no power there. I didn't have anyone I trusted anymore, they took that away. And I felt like I was slowly losing myself as well.

It was just as i was about to fall back into hating myself for caring that my phone rang. I jumped, grabbing it quickly and answering.

"H-hello?" I was hoping it was them, some news on lapis. Or maybe the agency, with a breakthrough on the case.

"Hey..." I felt my heart break more at the voice. I slumped back. I wasn't angry, but he was the LAST person I wanted to talk to.

"Emil..."

"I heard what happened... I uh...." he froze, but quickly contenued, sounding a bit panicky. "I know this isn't a good time. I know you don't like me, but dad... he... he's not...." his voice faded a bit.

"Is he in the hospital?" I asked blankly. But I was surprised by the emotion in my brothers voice. He was ussaully collected, snarky, and I wouldn't call it a stretch at all to say cocky.

The small, shaky sigh I heard gave me the confirmation I needed, but Emil spoke anyway. "He really wants to see you... just... Grant him one more visit, sis. It doesn't even have to be for long... he misses you... you never saw it, but I did. He slowly fell apart after your fight... he was angry and wreckless... and then he felt so guilty... I know you have no reason to believe it, but he wants to make it right. And he..."

"He doesn't have much time left to do it, sis. Please? Whatever differences has split us all just let them be for a 10 minute visit?"

I had already closed my eyes. They already burning from crying and laying awake. I glanced at the clock, seeing it was only about 3:40.

"I can be there by 5." I said weakly. "But... emil if at any point..."

"He's not forcing you. If you don't want to stay, you can leave."
