Lapis POV.

I crawled, my ankle hurt so much, but the tears had stopped. I winced every time I moved. I felt weak, I wanted to just lay down... I wanted to give up.

But I kept going. I could be dramatic and say I didn't want to die out here, but honestly the worst that could happen was I got wet from rain.

I managed to reach the back of the diner, and I layed down next to the outside door. I sighed.

Would Peri still be here? Maybe she was sorry...

No. She hated me. I didn't know why, but she did. She made it clear. Maybe that's what her eyes were showing when she looked at me. Disgust.

I felt more tears stream down as i breathed heavier. I wiped them away.

"No... stop it. Shes... she's not worth it."

I was so desperate to convince myself. She didn't care. She left me injured in a forest, she probably drove home and was sitting on her couch.

I shuddered, but suddenly the backdoor to the diner swung open and a short woman stepped out. Her black hair was tied into a bun, and she was about to light a cigarette when she saw me.

"HOLY FUC... uhhh...." she froze, looking me over. She noticed my bloody ankle and ran back in.

I heard a sortof yell, and then footsteps. Another woman just about the same height as the first came and they got on either side of me.

I was so tired...

They carried me in and the 2nd woman studied my ankle for a second. "Ruby... get the first aid kit." The 1st woman nodded and ran off.

"Are you alright?" I turned back and saw the second woman looking at me, I tried to speak, but my voice didn't come. I must have cried too much. I wiped more tears off my face and nodded.

The 1st... Ruby, she had been called, came back with a large white box. The 2nd woman started digging while Ruby shifted nervously.

"A wet towel or something would help, ruby." The 2nd woman looked up. Ruby nodded again and rushed back around a corner. I felt dizzy all of a sudden.

Every moment I had spent with Peri over the last... almost 2 weeks I'd known her, came rushing back.

Our awkward first meeting...

shaking hands in her office the next day...

interviewing Ms. Roland and Casper...

and the night I offered her dinner as a sort of apology, for assuming she was a boy, and for bothering her a little while she worked.

The night we.... cuddled?

They all replayed and I couldn't stop it.

I gripped my head and groaned. My head hurt like hell. My heart was aching, and my ankle might as well have been broken.

I had fallen for her and now I was paying for it.

Ruby had come back while I was thinking, and they had wiped the blood off my ankle. The 2nd woman was now wrapping it, and saying something.

I didn't care. I didn't know what to think. Why had Peri suddenly acted so... so cold? Angry... She said I was the problem... but I don't know what I could've done...

I closed my eyes. Ruby and the other woman finished wrapping my ankle.

"WHAT even happened? Did something attack you?" Ruby wore concern, while the other woman stood next to her.

"I uh... no i... I fell. My ankle hit a sharp rock." It wasn't a complete lie. Plus I didn't owe these girls the truth, I didn't know them, though I did appreciate their help.

The second woman didn't say anything. Ruby however, sighed and helped me stand. "Well please don't do that again. Do you need me to call anyone?"

Well peri... no. She doesn't want to look at me. "No it's fine. I'm gonna call a cab."

I made my way out of the restaurant. I wanted to feel sad, or angry... but in truth...

I felt numb.
