Peridot POV.
Evidence. I smiled stupidly as i rushed down to the lab area. Amy said... Ralston... I think. I remember her from basic training when we joined. She was tough for a doctor. But also kind of a spaz.
I barely contained myself as I stepped into the slightly dark lab, which only had one desk lit up towards the center.
"Docter Ralston?"
"Ah! Agent Greene. Sorry just a sec!" I heard a few tink like sounds before she stepped out of a side room.
"Agent Thorston brought me this DNA sample yesterday, and what I've found is quite interesting." I tilted my head, walking over to where she was setting something up.
She set down a file, and a fingerprint. She looked up smiling, and handed the file to me. "I believe my complete report for the matter is in here." She paused for a moment and sighed.
"Now, I hate to be rude, but I have other work to attend to." I nodded.
She adjusted her glasses then dissapeared back into the small side lab. I looked back to the folder, and opened it.
Most of the first page was just specifics from another case, which I assumed was the one Amy had, but the second...
There was a picture of a very familier girl in the top corner, along with a digital copy of a fingerprint. My eyes widened, and I began reading.
In summery, apparently an attempt at burning evidence to Amy's case was stopped, and in looking around the crime scene, they had found a finger print from none other than Allie Roland.
I set the file down, blinking in disbelief. I flipped through the rest, feeling a smile creep up on my face.
The place had only been open for 2 days. This fingerprint was recent.
She had lasted 2 years with her captives. And she was most likely still alive. I flipped the folder closed, just after setting the fingerprint inside, and rushed out.

"But this is a great sign... lapis I just can't believe it." I looked at the file for the thousandth time. Lapis smiled and shook her head.
We had spent all day looking through records for possible suspects, coming up with a few, but also clearing a few who had alibis. Now we were back at lapis's house, and I was sitting at her table.
" yeah... this is good. Are you going to tell her mother?" She tilted her head slightly.
I froze. "Well... protacol... it's techniccly releasing evidence to tell her." I sighed, looking back up at her. I relaxed at her gaze. "I want to, I just can't."
She put a hand on my shoulder. "We're closer. It's progress. But maybe..." she gently took the folder and sat it down. "...you should relax a bit." I opened my mouth to protest but stopped. One thing I got the impression of from lapis is that arguing usually didn't work.
I sighed. "I... I HAVE to find her lapis. I just..." I looked away.
She sat down and sighed as well. "We will. But if you keep working and working you're gonna wear yourself too thin. Honestly I don't know how you've done it so long."
I shrugged. "I didn't really have anything but work to look forward to."
I blushed a bit, and whispered mostly to myself "until now..." But I guess she heard me, because I saw a bit of blush on her cheeks as well.
"I mean... I uh..." I blushed harder, and lapis giggled.
"Well how sad you must be when im not around~" she brushed her hand against my cheek while still giggling. I growled in annoyance, but my face was still red.
"Your too cute. So easy to fluster." She scooted closer. And pecked my cheek.
"Only with you... it's different. Weird..." I leaned back, crossing my arms loosely, keeping the red hint to my cheeks.
It was silent for only a second, but it felt like forever. I looked over at her, our eyes meeting. "Lapis... i..." I sighed again.
"God I hate this... not... like... being here... just... having to put my feelings to words. It impossible..."
She smiled. " at least you're trying. More than... well... most people. It just comes easier to me I guess." She layed her hand gently on mine.
"You know you do the best when youre not thinking too hard about it. When it kindof just barrels out." She paused for a second, then scooted closer again and leaned back, but layed the side of her head on my shoulder.
Ussaully I would tense up, but I relaxed. I moved a bit to make it more comfortable, before laying my head against hers.
She intertwined our fingers, and I didn't mind at all. Her hand was soft.
I let out a relaxed sigh, and looked at her through the corner of my eye. It was hard, but she was smiling, with her eyes closed. This was peaceful.
I rubbed her hand with my thumb as a sort of nerve thing, and turned my head slowly, pausing before kissing her temple then returning. I blushed like a an idiot, but lapis just let out a happy hum.
I nuzzled against her head with my smile returning. I bit my lip, and squeezed her hand gently.
"You tired?" I whispered, closing my eyes a bit.
"No... but I don't want to move either. You?" She turned her head. And so did I, so we were facing eachother.
"Who said moving? I could stay here for hours." This made her giggle, and she untangled our fingers.
"Dork." She kissed my cheek and hugged my shoulders as i wrapped my arms around her waist.
"Your dork." I smiled at her, and giggled again. She smiled and pecked my cheek again.
"And don't you forget it."
