BUT IT'S BACK GET READY y'all gonna like the next 2 chapters then I'm gonna hit you with some TEARS
Lapis POV.
"Are you sure you're okay now...?" I ran my fingers through her hair again, and she silently nodded, keeping her eyes closed. There were red tear stains on her cheeks, and she was still shaking slightly.
I clenched my jaw, very unconvinced, but I had accepted a while ago that peridot already felt like she was putting me in danger, and that roping me in further than she was comfortable with was NOT happening.
She needed time, but every day I got more and more concerned that she was letting everything get to her. This whole family thing, the case, and the weight of trying to keep me happy...
Her breath was finally slowed, her body more relaxed. She was asleep, after about an hour of me quietly whispering that I was here and it's okay. She never responded other then calming slightly, and painfully slowly.
I kissed her head, then sighed, laying my head back against the couch.
At least I could be grateful that we had the next two days off. Maybe I could take peridot out? She desperately needed to stop thinking about all the bad things, and as far as I know I'm the only one here for her.
I furrowed my brows at the thought of her brother, but I suddenly got an idea. I leaned back up, slowly lifting Peri's head and laying it on a pillow versus my lap, and grabbing her phone.
Luckily she didn't have it locked, and it wasn't all that hard to find his number.
I closed my eyes for a second, taking a deep breath, before pressing call and holding the phone up to my ear.
After only 2 rings a familier, excited voice came onto the other end.
"SIS! What, beat up my bodyguard but you want to talk? Listen, I know we don't get along, and dad wasn't really thrilled about uh... you know... but we're still related. And he wants to make things right... god please say something, you stubborn... ugh..."
I blinked, sucking in this new information, then smirking slightly, then took a breath again. "So you need a body guard Now? What happened to taking what's yours? But apparently peridot beats you either way."
