Justin
Taking the cupcakes out of fridge like Selena ordered me to do, I tried my best not to eat one. They were red velvet with white frosting, how could I not want to eat them?
I had Mary, our house cleaner make sure the house was sparkling top to bottom for our new guest Sophia, I'm excited just about getting to know her and to see how she settles in with the kids. My phone buzzed in my pocket before I could even reach for a cupcake. Pulling it out I opened Selena's text message telling me she and had just landed at the airport. My heart sped up a little and I was beginning to get a little nervous about letting a stranger live in my home with my kids.
"Jayden." I yelled for my youngest son who was sat in the living room probably watching youtube videos. Selena and I decided to have one more child when Jade was a bratty toddler and he is now thirteen almost fourteen but takes right after his older brother Josh who is Eighteen and also away at college. "What dad?" Jayden groaned in frustration as he appeared in the doorway of the kitchen.
"Can you go and please get your sisters? Your mom is on her way home with Sophia I want to give her a nice welcome into the family." I said pushing him towards the stairs and he gave the loudest sigh, I chuckled playfully slapping the back of his head and ruffling his mop of blonde locks which he hated me doing. "This whole plan is weird but okay." He said eyeing me rubbing his head where I slapped him and ran straight up the stairs.
I walked into the living room to see what I had to clean after him. Rolling my eyes at the mess he made I ran around cleaning up and picking up chocolate wrappers, empty chip packets and empty Gatorade bottles. I switched off the television by the remote and fluffed up the couch cushions making sure everything was perfect so I wouldn't get a lecture from Selena, finishing up and gathering the dirt from the black coffee table I heard loud steps running down the stairs.
I walked out of the living to see Jessica, who is now seventeen busy typing away on her phone. Checking over her outfit she was wearing I hated it, a small white crop top that showed her stomach along with denim shorts that barely covered her backside. "Change that outfit Jess." I said sternly and she shook her head not paying attention.
"Dad it's thirty-two degrees out, there is no way I'm changing." She rolled her eyes and just continued to text away on her phone, sometimes I wish I'd never stopped being so harsh on them when they were little as now my point was proven that they are now out of control and don't listen, unless I use there full names then they know I'm serious. "Jessica change your outfit, now." After that, she rolled her eyes again at me before turning around and storming straight up the stairs. "God you don't know fashion, do you!?" She yelled down the stairs and I chuckled walking towards the kitchen. "That's not fashion Jess, that's wanting attention." I yelled back and then making my way straight into the kitchen to dump the rubbish into the bin.
Sophia
Walking down the last few steps from the plane I noticed how much cooler the air was here in Chicago. "You ready for a fresh start babe?" Selena asked as we stepped onto the tarmac, I took in my surroundings and then smiled at Selena. ''Lets do this.'' I squealed getting really excited, I still found it to be like a dream. I thought nobody wanted me from my mom's group of friends but then when Selena offered this to me it was an offer I couldn't refuse, the only one I really liked and connected with from my mom's friends.
"They are all excited to meet you." She said as we were shown to Selena's black range rover. ''I'm so excited to meet them too, I just hope I'm not going to be such a burden on you guys.'' I fidgeted with my fingers, looking down at my hands.
