Storming out of the Diner, I glanced back at my dad once to watch him hang his head down low and shake it as if he was disappointed. I rolled my eyes opening my car door and throwing myself on the drivers seat. He wanted my approval to propose to Hailey, not over my dead body.

He and my mom haven't even gone to court yet and he already wants to get down on one knee to Hailey. I sighed shoving the key into the slot and twisting it, my car roaring to life. Reversing away from the diner, I watched as my dad walked out watching me drive away. I shook my head tearing my eyes from him and focusing my eyes on the road. Gripping the wheel my knuckles turned white with my firm grip, my mood was boiling and all I wanted to do was punch something.

His question kept on repeating itself in my mind, he wanted my approval on a relationship I absolutely hated with a passion.  My eyes flicked between my white knuckles and the highway, which was unusually empty.

I decided the right thing to do was ring my mom and tell her the news before she heard it from someone else.

Dialing in my moms number it rang for a couple of seconds before she answered. "Josh  baby is everything okay?"

"Hey mom, yeah everything's okay but I need to tell you something." I sighed trying to figure out if I was doing the right thing or not. "Okay, what's going on?"

"I think dad is going to propose to Hailey. He just asked me to give him my blessing but I refused. I just wanted to tell you first before you heard it from somebody else." I spoke but the line was quiet. "Mom? Are you okay?"

"Yeah yeah, why did you say no Josh?"

"Because I will not hurt you by giving my blessing to him to marry another woman."

"I'm okay Josh, your father and I are finished for good. Let him do what he wants if it makes him happy, even if that means marrying her."

The line went quiet again and I could hear her sniffling. "Mom.. please don't cry."

I had this aching pain in my heart that reached for her to have a happy ending with my dad but I just knew it was never going to happen. "I'm okay, thank you for telling me Josh. I love you."

"I love you too mom."

We both said our goodbyes and I hung up, punching the steering wheel in the process. I just wanted to punch my dad, yell at him for treating my mom so poorly.

Driving back home I was quick into my moms office but she wasn't there, it was perfectly neat as she always liked it.

I prayed that my dad would realize how much of a mistake he made and would come back to my mom and heal her pain.

Shaking my head I skipped up the stairs and made my way to my bedroom to at least chill out before I had to go back to college tomorrow.

Sitting at my office desk I was going over some financial sheets of the months income, now I had control of what was going on I could see Justin was losing the business and never told me.

Shaking my head I organized the sheets picking them up and walking out of my office. "Valery if anybody calls can you tell them to leave a message and I'll call them back when I get back." I said quickly as I doubled checked the sheets sitting in my arms as I rushed down the hallway to the elevator. "Yes Miss."
