When Sophia's mom passed away she was left with nothing, she was left with little money and she didn't know what was going to happen next, she didn't know where she would end up, she never even expected to be adopted by one of her moms best friends...
Sitting across from Sophia in our local cafe called Jeff's I realized how much little time I've been spending with her with all the stuff going on with Justin and then dealing with Josh's drunken mess I haven't realized how little attention I was paying to her. "I'm sorry for the little attention I've been giving you Soph, with everything that's been going on I was focused on everything else."
"Don't apologize, it's okay." She laughed a little shaking her head, she was a precious diamond that I found in the darkest times of my marriage. "How did you pretend for so long knowing what he was doing? You made it seem so easy." She asked as I stared out the window, I really didn't want to answer that question but it was time to faxed the music.
"It wasn't easy, it was something I had to do. I couldn't just destroy my marriage while the kids were still young. Sometimes it was hard and I knew I should have called it off but I couldn't bring my self to do it. It was like battling a obstacle course, you didn't know where it would lead if I took the wrong direction." I shrugged sighing, I finally looked at Sophia who had glassy eyes and I smiled leaning over the table and wiping away her tears.
"We love you and we are so proud of you for being so strong through the toughest times. We would be lost without you, Selena." She smiled widely, her smile was the brightest and would light up the whole sky if it could. "Thank you Soph but please don't make me ruin my make up." I sarcastically said wiping the tears from my eyes. "You'll hopefully find someone who will love you for you." I spoke smiling and she got all shy her cheeks blushing redder than a rose.
"You really think so?" She laughed and I nodded. "Oh babe I know so." We both laughed and I clutched my stomach from all the laughing.
"Can I get a latte to go please?" I heard and quickly looked up to the counter to where a male in skin tight black jeans, short cut curly hair and a pink tee on. I recognized that deep English accent and I warmed inside. "Harry?" I spoke rising from my seat and Sophia furrowed her eyebrows watching me. "Harry Styles is that really you?" I asked and he quickly glanced at me to be surprised. "Selena?" He smiled turning his who body towards me.
"Hey, how have you been? It's been like what, seventeen years since we seen each other?" I asked as we both went in for a hug, he held on for a little bit longer but I pulled away smiling. "Yeah it's been a long time, I just got back into town after been on tour for the last year. Couldn't wait to get home to Tay and the kids."
"You and Taylor had kids?" I was surprised but he nodded. "Yeah I'm sorry we haven't spoken in such a long time our lives just got swept away with getting married and starting our lives."
"Oh my god congratulations, tell me their names!" I smiles when he said his name. "We has Amanda, Ryan and James."
He raised a brow and I dropped my smile a little. "Did you know Ryan and Jessica are seeing each other?" I spoke smiling and he smiled too, he still had the smirk smile he used to do when we were younger.
"Oh really?" He gave a confused face before taking his coffee from the cashier and turning to me. "Yeah, do you want to join us for a catch up?" I quickly asked hoping he would stay to talk so we could catch up. "Us?"
"Oh sorry, this is my daughter Sophia. You've probably seen it all over the internet about Justin and I adopting a teenager." I pointed to Harlow and he followed my direction.
"Oh yeah I did, it's nice to meet you Sophia." He spoke using his free hand to wave at Sophia who just smiled and mimicked his actions. "Sorry Sel I've got to get to the studio, I can give you my number and we can all catch up soon?"
"Yeah sure." I faintly smiled and wrote my number down in a peace of paper towel for him. We said our goodbyes and I walked back over to sit next to Sophia.
"Okay who the hell was that?" Sophia asked giving me a confused face with both hands on the table, she whipped her head around to watch him walk away before looking at me again. "He's an old friend of Justin and I's from when Jess and Josh was young."
She nodded and mouthed "HOT" and I smiled. "He's a little bit old for you." I smirked and she rolled her eyes playfully.
Sipping on my coffee I watched the traffic of Chicago pass by and I sighed, I've been here for so long and I haven't lived anywhere else. I wanted to explore the world like I used to.
I wanted to bring back the happy and joyful Selena that she used to be before she met the damned Justin Bieber who she thought made her happy. I wanted the Selena who interacted more with her fans and opened up bout issues but I didn't know how to get her back.
"What's on your mind?" Soph asked narrowing her eyes towards me as if she was trying to read me, I sighed a little and shrugged. "A lot of things."
We spent over an hour just talking and laughing before I got a call from my manger asking me if I wanted to do a few projects and interviews, to finally speak out about the truth that happened. I agreed, I mean it's the least I can do to get myself back out into the public eye.
Laughing with Soph was what I needed to remind me that the only people I will ever need in life is my children. Whilst laughing I looked up to the doors where I heard the bell ring and my smile dropped, my heart suddenly stopping. Justin and Hailey.
I watched as he hand his hand around her shoulders and her hand around his torso, she was smiling widely with sparks flying in her eyes. "Is that..?" Soph questioned as she followed my gaze behind her, she quickly spun around and her jaw was open. "Oh god no I'm going to speak to her-.." I gripped her arm as she got up to leave.
"Soph no, I'm a grown adult I can deal with this." I assured her and she raised a brow. "Baby I can't hide from it anymore, this is my life now."
She nodded but kept led glancing back to where the happiest couple were laughing, he whispered something into her ear and she laughed loudly. I was fine on the outside, I have pretended to be fine for years so why would I stop now?
I had to be okay.

I promise I will do a Sophia POV soon, I just want to focus on the two main characters first.
