It was hard for Aella to sleep with a lot on her mind, but somehow she managed. Unfortunately, that peaceful moment of rest was interrupted when Bellamy barged into her tent.
"Jesus, Bellamy," she mumbled tiredly. "Give a girl a warning."
He ignored that and just said, "Octavia's missing."
"Are you sure?"
"I've looked everywhere."
Suddenly, she was wide awake. "I'll help you."
"Thank you."
"Check in the tents and I'll check the dropship."
"Of course. Thank you, Aella."
She ran into the dropship, desperately hoping that Octavia was moping about something and sleeping in there, but the hope was useless.
"I couldn't find her," Bellamy said, meeting up with Aella after checking the tents.
"Neither could I."
"That isn't good."
"No shit, Bellamy. Octavia's been gone for so long!"
"Hey, everybody!" Bellamy shouted. "Gather around and grab a weapon. My sister's been out there alone for 12 hours. Arm up. We're not coming back without her."
Clarke saw Jasper reach to grab a weapon and stopped him, letting him know, "Hey, Jasper, you don't have to do this. You haven't left camp since we brought you back."
"Clarke, I need to do this," he said sternly. It wasn't hard to tell that Jasper was scared as shit, but that wouldn't stop him.
"We need all the people we can get in case we have to go farther than I hope we have to," Aella said, grabbing a weapon.
"Aella, you don't have to come with us," Bellamy said. "You're healing from wounds."
"Did you literally just not hear what I said? We need all the people we can get. This could get ugly if we don't have strength in numbers."
"We need a tracker."
Aella sighed and shouted, "Finn! Get out here!"
He was in his tent getting a haircut from Raven, acting like he didn't sleep with Clarke, like, yesterday.
"Finn!" she shouted again. "Get your ass out here! We're leaving!"
"All right!" he shouted back. "I'm coming."
Clarke and Finn nearly ran into each other and had what Aella could only assume was the most awkward conversation in the world.
"Guys, guys!" someone shouted. "Come here!"
Everyone was staring up at the sky.
"Did you see that?" someone else shouted.
"Look up there."
"It's so beautiful."
Aella's heart dropped to her stomach as she realized the pretty meteor shower everyone was awing over wasn't a meteor shower at all.
"It didn't work," she said solemnly.
"They didn't see the flares," Raven added, standing next to Aella glumly.
"A meteor shower tells you that?" Bellamy asked.
"It's not a meteor shower, it's a funeral," Clarke said. "Hundreds of bodies being returned to the Earth from The Ark. This is what it looks like from the other side. They didn't get our message."
