Aella Kane opened her eyes for the first time in who knows how long and only saw white. The walls, floor, and even the clothes she had been changed into were white, only confusing her. She examined everything around her, only noticing how white it was.

Before she panicked, she unhooked the IV tube attached to her arm and noticed how oddly clean her arms were of dirt grime, and wounds. Instead of ugly scars and cuts, small pink marks took their place. Her nails were trimmed to perfection and not a speck of dirt was seen anywhere.

Her red hair was trimmed significantly short, reaching her shoulders instead of the middle of her back since the dead hair was cut off. Only, who did all of this?

Finally standing up, she made her way over to the white door with a small window in it as she examined her surroundings. An identical door was seen across from hers, but it was empty.

"Hello?" she shouted. "Anyone there? Where am I?"

Her eyes quickly caught onto a security camera—also white—and felt oddly like an experiment of some sort kept under surveillance for examination; she detested it and broke the camera with the IV stand.

Then she broke the window with her fist, hitting the glass until it finally submitted to her brute force, and stuck her bruised and bloodied hand through the break. She grabbed the door handle and opened her cell door, just hoping to know where she and her people were.

A cute girl with brown hair and big brown eyes was walking down the hall when she found the redhead with blood streaming down her arm and whimpered, "Not again!"

Aella's head quickly snapped to the girl as she pressed a button, alerting a sound system that rang through the entire mountain.

"Don't move," the girl said.

"Where am I?" she asked. "Where are my people?"

"You're in Mount Weather and your people are safe."

Somehow, she didn't believe it, but couldn't help but wonder who was still alive after the battle.

"Who's here? How many of us are there?"

"I think there's 48."

"Out of 100, there's 48," she mumbled to herself, feeling like she failed because half of her people were gone.

"What did you say?"

"Why are we here?" she asked angrily, her voice cracking. "Why?"

The girl didn't answer, which really pissed Aella off.

"Tell me now," she ordered, her voice dangerously low.

"We saved you," the girl said timidly, pressing the emergency button a few more times.

Before Aella could shout at the timid girl any longer, a tranquilizer arrow lodged itself into her back by what she could assume was a Mount Weather guard.

She woke up in a hospital bed in a white infirmary and started panicking. She sat up gasping and found an IV stuck in her arm, but she couldn't rip it out because there was a doctor that stood in front of her.

"Hello, Aella," the doctor said sweetly. "How are you feeling?"

Aella didn't answer and immediately noticed her restraints, desperately trying to pull her arms out of them.
