When Bellamy, Pike, Hannah, and seven other individuals strode into Arkadia wearing the blood of the people they had killed, Aella felt sick to her stomach. Not one casualty on Pike's side meant they had to have killed the Grounders in their sleep.
She grabbed an entire bottle of some sort of alcohol from inside and returned outside, watching Pike stand atop a platform. She moved to stand next to her father and watched in horror as Pike stood tall and proud, practically basking in the glory of killing innocent allies in their sleep. What an ass.
"Everybody, listen up. 24 hours ago you elected me your chancellor. Every action I've taken since and every action I will take will be to achieve one sacred goal. The creation of a self-sustaining, prosperous, and safe Arkadia."
Everyone cheered and Aella took a swig, muttering to her father, "New drinking game. Every time you want to shoot Charles Pike in the face, take a drink."
"This morning on a muddy field our people paid tribute to those who have been taken from us by sending a message to the Grounders. This land is ours now! Resist, and you will be met by force. Fight, and you will be greeted by death. Today is a new beginning. Mark it down, remember it, just like the Grounders will remember it."
She took three more swigs and handed the bottle to her father who gave it back to her without drinking.
"No wounded," Abby murmured. "Ten against 300 and there's no wounded. How's that possible?"
"They were killed in their sleep by automatic weapons," Aella answered, taking another drink. "Made sure no one could fight back. It's damn genocide." She handed the drink to her father and began walking away.
"Where are you going?" Kane asked.
"Medical center," she answered. "Making sure Pike didn't kill the sick soldiers we saved." Lucky for her, she ran inside to see empty halls where she just released a choking sob. Her anxiety levels were through the roof. All she could think about is how badly everyone in Arkadia would suffer because of their idiotic tendencies to follow the person with a suicidal agenda.
Hot tears were spilling from her eyes and her throat closed up, causing each breath she took to sound heavily labored and nearly impossible to obtain. She lived her whole life breathing in oxygen from tanks on the Ark, but never did she suffocate in space even when the levels were low than she did at that moment. She failed. She didn't directly do anything, but it was human instinct to blame herself when anything went awry.
She composed herself in merely a second, running to the medical center as she wiped off the remaining tears to find the sight of the injured Grounders huddled in a corner. It broke her heart to think they were scared for their lives in a place that promised them safety.
"It's only me," she said solemnly, looking down at the medical charts of everyone they brought in. "Here to make sure everything's alright."
"Nothing is alright," Ada, the woman Aella carried in from the gates not too long ago, murmured sadly. "We know of the attack Skaikru led on my people. Killed 300, if I'm correct, including my husband."
"I'm so sorry, Ada of Sangedakru. It was not my doing, but I sure as hell will make the person who did this. Assuming I can." She took Ada's blood pressure, noticing it was high, then she changed Nyko's bandages.
